This mod unifies safe in the Lodge and Captain's Lockers in the ships.
I wanted to have a safe place to store some items I do not want to lose. Nice gun, or space suit or random decoration.
Now when you open Captain's Locker in ships or Safe in the Lodge it leads to the same container with same items. Handy.
How to use
- Install the mod
- Start the game
- When you open Captain's Locker or Lodge Safe for the first time (transfer or use) you will see a message in the corner saying Captain's Locker activated, now you have to open it second time for mod to work and accessing safe locker
- Above is so you can retrieve items you have in the locker. So if something is in the locker you can take it out, access locker again and if it's empty mod will activate
- Same with Safe in the Lodge
Taking and putting stuff in.
- Transfer only works one way, as I couldn't find an alternative to "OpenOneWayTransferMenu()" thus:
- To put stuff in, make sure you are standing
- To take stuff out of the locker "sneak" this will initiate transfer other way, and you can take stuff out. The idea was, you know, kneeling to look through the drawer...
Best to use Mod Manager.
Manual installation.
- Unpack esp file to "Starfield/Data" folder
- Add the following to your StarfieldCustom.ini
[General]
sTestFile1=SafeCaptainsLocker.esm
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
- It does not work with workbenches, not the goal of this mod
- It does allow you to cheat if you put resources or contraband in new safe locker, but well - do not cheat, not intention of the mod. May add some restriction at a later time.
- It say "Search/empty" while you hover over "safe" locker but there is stuff in it
How it works?
It creates a new "test" cell that I believe is permanent and places an unlimited storage container there. When you access an empty Captain's Locker or Lodge Safe, it fires the script to initiate transfer to this new container rather than opening the original container.
Warning
I have played many hours with it, changed ships, cockpits etc. and had no issues so far, but there is a risk that the "test" cell is not persistent and items may get lost, unlikely now, but you have been warned. Followimg up on that here
