What is it?
Gameplay Style: Casual, RP, Combat: Missiles, Difficulty NORMAL or LOWER (You will need to replace the missiles with Particle Cannons on harder difficulties)
Combat Capability: Excellent (With Skills, Buffs, Crew, and correct difficulty settings)
As part of Eag's Ship Shop's final deal with Ron Hope, we designed HopeTech their first attempt at breaking into the military market. Ron Hope asked for a military-grade destroyer, specializing in guided missile combat.
We set off to design a ship capable of keeping it's distance and striking from afar. Ideally the Archer-Class would be optimal travelling as a pack, with a larger fleet, or with fighter escorts. However with a highly skilled Captain and the correct teamwork with the crew, the Archer can definitely hold its own solo.
The Archer-Class features two primary missile batteries as well as a fore and aft particle point defense turret system. The main missile battery consists of quad Hunter-Mag 450's with very large magazines, so the Archer can lay down constant fire. The Secondary Battery consists of dual-Atlatl 280B's which have a much smaller magazine, however they hit much harder so they may be used as a heavy-hitting battery, or used to keep the fire on the target while the Hunter-Mag battery reloads.
The Archer-Class isn't without it's traditional Eag's Ship Shop design choices. To begin with, Eag's Ship Shop took HopeTech's one combat fighter, the Watchdog, and began with that overall design. Then Eags himself took a look to Ancient Earth's past, and was inspired by nuclear-powered, very large submersible naval warfare vessels that Humans of the time called "Submarines." While not necessarily condoning the payloads of mass-destruction that some of those vessels often carried, he was immediately enthralled by the romanticization of being on a submarine crew so often found in Ancient Earth works of fiction. So naturally, he tried to add a touch of "space-submarine" to the Archer-Class's look. The Archer even has a forecastle!
Originally intended to be a part of the Astral Engine line of Eag's Ship Shop/HopeTech collaborative ships as the Astral Engine Model BFG (Bow-Fixed Gun), HopeTech and Eag's Ship Shop decided to have the vessel stand on it's own, since the vessel was a total redesign and was no longer built upon the Astral Engine frame. The ship was rebranded and given it's own class name.
The Archer is available now to all; the independent captain, organization, or navy! Contact HopeTech today for contracting or pricing options!
4th Wall Breakdown:
The Archer class as I have it built is best enjoyed in Normal Difficulty with an open mind. Tired of vaporizing opponents in 2 seconds with Particle Beams? The Archer-Class will get your blood pumping and make you feel like you're really having a close battle with the bad guys.
I highly recommend running with Crew Members:
- Sam Coe - The Lodge (Piloting 4)
- Omari Hassan - Akila City (Shield Systems 3)
- Gideon Aker - New Atlantis (Missile Weapon Systems 2)
