- Majority of SETI lights could only be purchased at Deimos ship builder locations. Now they're available at any ship builder location across the universe. - Updated description of all SETI lights in the ship builder for easier understanding of their intended use.
Version 0.3.0
- Starfield update 1.14.70 and Shattered Space expansion compatibility confirmed.
Changelog:
- Spaceship Headlights on Kon-Tiki and Overseer Bridges would leak into ship habs and spacestations due to their unique positioning and light type they were using. For this reason, spaceship headlights have been completely removed from these Bridge parts. All other cockpits and bridges still have the same & functional headlights that work in space.
- SETI-04H Space Headlights are now available in the equipment tab of the ship builder. Note: These lights will only work when in space and will have a very long reach. They are intended as a replacement for the removed headlights on Kon-Tiki and Overseer Bridges. It is highly recommended to install these lights at the very front of your ship in order to avoid the massive light leaking into the hab/spaceship interior. You can install them on any ship part/cockpit to boost the strength of your headlights in space, just be mindful of the positioning.
- SETI-04F Floodlights (fore, aft, port, stbd) now available. These lights will only work when your ship is not in space and will cast a very wide cone of bright light. Ideal for landing site visibility. These lights do not penetrate walls or habs (unlike space headlights) so they're safe to place anywhere.
- Added ship builder icons for all existing SETI lights.
- Added an optional .esm file that disables SETI lights on player's boostpack (as per request). This is a completely optional file that must be loaded after SETI in order to have any effect.
Version 0.2.1
- SETI-02 lights now have navigation light variations (Green, Red) - Increased cost of SETI-02 lights from 200 to 300 - Decreased weight of SETI-02 lights from 0.2 to 0.1 - Installed SETI lights no longer increase hull value of the ship.
Version 0.2
FEATURE UPDATE. PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
The mod has advanced into the next phase and is now a full master. For this reason it will be necessary to reinstall the mod from scratch. Mod file has a different name to prevent any issues with your save game.
IMPORTANT - Backup your save. UNINSTALL if you're using a previous version of this mod. INSTALL the new version (v0.2) from scratch.
This will remove all the SETI-01 and SETI-02 lights that you placed on your ship. I know this is inconvenient, but in return you'll get navigation lights to arrange as a fun activity! Also, more important - now that the mod has outgrown the small master constraints, this particular update method was a necessary measure to make SETI futureproof for many more updates to come.
UPDATE CHANGELOG:
Brand new ship parts added to the equipment tab: - SETI-03N Navigation lights (green, red, white) - SETI-03S Strobe lights (white) - SETI-03B Beacon lights (red)
Additional cockpits are now upgraded to SETI standards: - Kon Tiki 300/400 Bridge variants are now illuminated - Kon Tiki 500 Bridge variants are now illuminated - Overseer Bridge variants are now illuminated
- Final adjustments to spaceship headlights luminosity & angle - Headlights on Magellan C1, Daimyo cockpits were misaligned - Fixed. - Headlights on Ares and Cabot bridges were misaligned - Fixed. - Added a couple of new lights to Ares Bridge
- Exterior lights were visibly bleeding through walls into the Viking cockpits. Mitigated some of the bleed at the slight cost of exterior light brightness (subject to change depending on how future CK updates handle light source manipulation).
Version 0.1.4
- Added more lights to Cabot bridge & made sure they work in space as well - Several spotlights on Viking cockpit variations were out of position. Fixed. - Added more lights to Viking cockpits - Added more lights to Magellan C1 and Magellan C2 cockpits - Added more lights to Taiyo cockpits
Version 0.1.3
- Light fixture snapping issues have been fixed. SETI-01 and SETI-02N lights can now be added or attached properly - SETI-01 and SETI-02N lights will now provide much more luminosity when in space - Fixed Deimos Phobos headlights alignment - Added more logo lights to Phobos cockpit - Added more logo lights to Ares bridge - Further adjusted all spaceship headlights in the effort to make them more immersive
- weight of SETI-01 and SETI-02N lights reduced from 1 to 0.1 and 0.2 respectively - light range of spaceship headlights reduced as a measure to increase immersion (This is a test, subject to change in the future - depending on feedback)
If you're using any of the dark night tweaks/mods, you will find SETI and its sibling mods to be essential when exploring the wilderness after sunset! If you ever found yourself disoriented in a dark asteroid field, SETI will ensure you can see where you're flying.
Why restrain the awesome lights to your ship alone? SETI is perfect in combination with my other mod: Subtle Flashlight Use these two mods in combo and you'll never feel stranded in the dark again!
While we're at it, throw in some more lumens into the mix by installing SOL - Sensible Outpost Lighting so your outposts become lit! Then your circle of light will be complete! (Quick note: if you've been using SOL Extended version, it's recommended to replace it with SOL - Base version before you install SETI. Alternatively, you can just place SETI below SOL in your mod load order.)
MAIN FEATURES - SETI: - New ship light fixtures (including navigation lights!) that provide much needed light around your vessel while you're landed or in space. Modify your ship at your nearest ship technician to install as many of them as your ship can handle! (Check the Equipment tab!) - A selection of upgraded Vanilla ship parts with overhauled lights. (Many more upgraded parts to come!) - Spaceship headlights will now be visible in space and will illuminate distant objects. You can add your own headlights and as many as you want! Imagine that! - Vanilla ship landing engines will illuminate a wider area during takeoff/landing sequence. - Vanilla boostpacks will produce light around you while being used, looking much more realistic at night. (Only functional in 3rd person for now.)
Up-to-date list of all vanilla ship parts that have the upgraded SETI lighting: - Nova 6 Landing Gear (all positions and pieces) - Taiyo cockpit variants - Deimos Ares bridge variants - Deimos Phobos cockpit variants - Stroud Viking cockpit variants - Magellan C1 cockpit variants - Magellan C2 cockpit variants - Cabot C3 bridge variants - Armstrong 10 cockpit variants - KonTiki bridge variants - Overseer bridge variants

If you're installing for the first time:

If you're updating from an earlier version to version 0.2+ follow the instructions below.
The mod has advanced into the next phase and is now a full master. For this reason it will be necessary to reinstall the mod from scratch if you're using any of the 0.1 versions.
Mod file is now using a different name in order to prevent any issues with your save game.
IMPORTANT - Backup your save. UNINSTALL any older version you're currently using. Load the game and make a new save. Exit the game. INSTALL the new version (v0.2) from scratch and enable the new plugin. Load the newly saved game.
This will remove all the SETI-01 and SETI-02 lights that you placed on your ship. I know this is inconvenient, but in return you'll get navigation lights to arrange as a fun activity! Check changelog for details.
Load the game with new mod file enabled. If everything works as normal, you can now delete the old version file (you won't need it anymore).
COMPATIBILITY: - Any mod that tweaks ship lights, ship engine light settings or boostpack light settings will most likely be conflicting. Mods that change vanilla ship part packins and cells are also most likely to cause conflicts. Below are the mods I personally tested for compatibility. Below is the list of mods that are confirmed as compatible with SETI.
If you really like my mods and want to contribute:
SETI is currently in development. All the parts that have been overhauled so far are already functional and won't break any saves even if you remove the mod. However, always backup your save before uninstalling any mods (including this one).
If you encounter any visual glitches in or around the parts that were overhauled, please let me know.
