at some point, can you add the degree of transparency to the settings so you can control how transparent/opaque trees are? while it's nice to have an area around the player become transparent instead of just the object immediately in front of them, as well as a hotkey to make everything transparent at once, it still becomes quite hard to see in dense areas such as sve's western forest or a player-made orchard due to overlapping textures making the resulting image still quite opaque.
Custom Transparency used to have this feature, though it's quite old. one of the comments says it still works with 1.5, and I plan to test if it'll work alongside this mod (EDIT: it does not), but I think this mod could use a built-in feature like this.
Would it be possible to add a footprint to the transparent items, similar to what is shown in the interface for Robin when you are adding or moving a building? That would make it much easier to tell exactly what ground space an item is taking up.
That sounds possible and pretty convenient, I'll look into it when I can. Unfortunately, I'm a on a partial hiatus and also need to update some other mods, so it may be a while. In the mean time, Data Layers has some similar features that might help, though they're more visually intrusive (e.g. the Buildable mode shows red boxes around any building and tree tiles).
I like this mod but it kills my framerate in the forest because of all the bushes and trees, using the keybind to turn transparency off helps but it's not as smooth as in vanilla
That mod can be used alongside Transparency Settings to have both features (in my testing, at least) and seems to have some similar config options in its own file. I probably won't duplicate its features in this mod any time soon, but I might try to add some cross-mod config options for that & a few others eventually.
I'd like to, but unfortunately it's pretty complicated. The farmhouse and town buildings (and non-interactive trees, bushes, etc) aren't specific "objects" in the game; they're basically one big image that gets drawn on top of everything else. It's hard to detect and hide specific parts of those.
I'll take another look next time I update this, though. It's still possible, just likely to take a long time.
Thanks to the nikkiblueeyes' comment above, I just noticed that Show Players Behind Map Tiles seems to offer that feature. It also has some config options similar to this mod, though it's a bit limited for tech reasons.
