Please note: This mod probably still works in 1.6, but I am no longer maintaining it. It may bug out in the Y2 festival, or if RSV or SVE are installed (although RSV NPCs can actually win the egg hunt).
Just a note that this works fine in 1.5.6 with RSV and SVE installed, but I think SVE for 1.6 changed the egg hunt scene maps somewhat and this somehow crashed the scene when Trinnie from RSV won bc she had disappeared somehow and so couldn't accept her reward during the cut scene? My farmer tried to move out of the way for her and then got stuck haha. Not sure if it was entirely this mod or just a combo of RSV, SVE, and this one interacting. If anyone else runs into a glitch: I escaped by using the CJB cheats menu to warp to Robin's shop and then went to sleep since it wouldn't warp me home due to getting stuck.
Unfortunately for this mod, I made it on a whim and will not be updating it for 1.6 or to fix any compatibility bugs, especially now there are changes to the existing vanilla Egg Hunt.
No worries! I appreciate all of your lovely mods. Hopefully if anyone else gets stuck, they have a way to get out of it since I just tinkered with whatever mods I had on hand until I escaped :)
Uuh I love that <3 Would love to see another mod like this that mixes up the winner of the fair. Especially if it included SVE and RSV. Let's be honest, Pierre shouldn't even be allowed to compete, there should be a rule like "participants are not allowed to compete with products they didn't produce themselves". XD
Yeh i should do that. Could be fun! Marnie deserves to win with her cheese wheel. Although i feel Lewis wouldnt call her the winner because he doesnt want to be accused (by Pierre) of nepotism. Now that would make an interesting but of drama... hmmm... Should i?
Wait Pierre does know about Lewis and Marnie? Huh XD Didn´t even know that. Anyways I still think Lewis would announce the real winner, he´s not a good mayor but I guess he´d do that. Could still lead to fun reactions (Pierre being angry or Lewis struggling to announce the winner when it´s Marnie) Yeah if you want to (: I´d definitely love to see that <3 If you´d do somethiing like that, would it work for SVE? I´d love to see Sophia or Susan win (: Andy would be fun too tbh cause noone would expect him to win. He must have had a very lucky year then.
Thanks for the mod! But it doesn't seem to take into account that Leo might not be unblocked in year two, and I got an error because the mod picked Leo as the winner, but Leo wasn't in town then.
Thank you for this awesome mod! I don't like it when Abigail wins by default, and after the first year i don't participate (my character is usually married with kids by the second festival) so it was great to see others get a fair chance. Loved the attention to detail you have with Abigail's little angry cloud when she doesn't win XD
To add other NPCs into the pool of random winners would it be as simple as copying the strings you have for each character in the content.json and just editing in their names + changing Lewis's winner announcement to reflect that? I have all the kids from RSV in my game as well as Eloise from East Scarp. I also thought it'd be extra funny to throw Lenny (RSV) in there after her dialogue where she clearly wants to despite being an elder LOL
pretty much, but please note you would also need to take into account where they are standing so that Lewis could move in the correct direction. Eloise doesn't participate.
I thought I saw someone mention a mod/modders resource that you can use in-game to get coordinates for spots but I’m not sure. I’ll look around so I can do that! Thank you so much!
Aw @ Eloise not being able to participate though, I had sore loser dialogue planned with Abigail where she’d blame the loss to Eloise on the fact that she got “chased by a flock of birds.” Lol
Eloose could be added now that you can append fields in events. However her fathers dialogue implies she's disinterested in hinting eggs. Maybe when i tey Ridgesidenill let her run too.
Oh, I didn’t realize he had that dialogue. I was bombarded with so much new dialogue through East Scarp and RSV NPCs I must’ve missed it. Thank you for the replies!
Great mod! Any possibility this can be made compatible with Ridgeside Village? I have four kids (five with Leo) hunting, I feel like marriageable-age adults like Sam, Maru, Abigail and me should let the actual children have a shot once in a while.
You're not obliged to hunt. I would actually really like it if it were possible to add new dialogue to characters for the second part so you can run around and talk to people and get new information. Sadly, festivals are basically cut scenes, so putting a cut scene within a cutscene would be... cutscene inception?
I think I'd have this one on principle even if I won every festival till the end of time. Simply because I'd know if I don't find enough that year, one of the kids could win.
Side Note: this may be too complex, but what about an option that slightly increases the difficulty of the hunt after you get the sun hat? Something that would make it challenging, but achievable and give the npcs a real chance? If that makes any sense?

don't really think so, the only 2 big town changing maps most people play is either Vanilla or SVE, you could also make it randomize wit certain criterias like having it be in an accessible tile and must be in a grass tile if possible
