About this mod

This mod allows the player to use the right thumbstick on a controller to easily use tools and items in your preferred direction. This allows you to move freely (strafe) while using tools in your specified direction.

Changelogs
When using tools you normally use your tools in the direction of your movement. But it is a bit cumbersome to strafe. That is, to perform actions in a direction different than your moving direction, for example walk in a straight line and water the plants to your left.

The only way to strafe (in vanilla) is to place the mouse cursor near your character in the direction you want to do your actions. This is not ideal because you need precise cursor movements to simply look in a direction.

With this mod tilting the right thumbstick uses your tools and places your items in your specified direction. This allows you to move freely (strafe) while using tools in your specified direction. Most of the tasks done involving tools or laying out objects are more natural to perform with this input mode.

Laying out a line of fences become satisfyingly simple. Just run straight and place the fences behind you or to your side, by tilting the right thumbstick in the appropriate direction. This works similarly well for other tasks like tilling or watering your fields. Even in melee combat it's useful to have precise and quick control over the direction of your strikes. Slingshots do not yet work with this setup (maybe in a future release?).

Update notes
Tilting the right thumbstick now automatically performs actions contextually. Since it is no longer necessary to press the appropriate action button, a claw grip is no longer necessary.

Known limitations
The following items don't work properly when tilting:
  • Fishing rods
  • Slingshots

Tilting doesn't currently pick up items.
