Hi, yes, the mod should work just fine in multiplayer since the cursor does not rely on other players. In split screen though, if one player is using the mouse and another is using a controller, it'll likely only show for the one using the mouse.
And it shouldn't affect other players at all since again, there's no network code or anything. But if you do run into any issues please let me know and I'll look into them.
Hi! Currently using the Seasonal Leaf Cursor mod and the icons for this mod does not seem to appear :( Are these two mods not compatible?
Edit: I have a lot of mods installed (sve, rsv, east scarp, gameplay-changing mods, etc.). All my mods are up to date as well as my SMAPI. Thought this info might help :)
Hey! I took a look at the Seasonal Cursor you mentioned and it doesn't really seem like it should conflict with this mod - as far as I can tell, it just replaces the regular cursors with themed ones, right? My mod adds additional icons to the side, so there shouldn't be a problem there.
First off, the icons won't show if you haven't already "discovered" the target NPC's gift tastes, so as not to spoil it for you. So if you've never given Harvey a coffee yet, you won't see an icon when trying to do so. If you want it to be "spoiled" you can open "config.json" in notepad and set "AlwaysShowGiftTaste" to true.
Otherwise, are you able to check your SMAPI console for any errors (red text)? For example, if you select a giftable item, then hover your cursor over an npc, you may see a steam of red error text on the console. Alternatively, you may be able to find an error log at "%appdata%\StardewValley\ErrorLogs" (if you're on Windows). Without any errors it's difficult for me to tell you what's going on, particularly if you've got lots of mods installed.
In any case, thanks for downloading, and I hope we can get things sorted out for you.
Hey, I have a couple questions rq: 1. Is it okay if I modify the png to color the icons? I don't want to share this with anyone else, and I want to change the coloring to match some other mods I currently have enabled. 2. What does the single line (Between the X and !) in the png mean? I haven't enabled the mod so I haven't been able to take a look at it just yet, and nothing in the description really says anything.
1. Sure, you can change the image to whatever you'd like, as long as you don't try to reupload the mod as your own. If it's for personal use, you can do whatever you'd like with it. 2. The single slash icon is used to layer over another icon. So for example if you've already given an npc a gift, it'll still show the smiley face to show if they liked it, but the slash will be over top to show you can't actually give the gift. I used the slash because the X obscured the icon too much. I've uploaded a new screenshot to show an example.
Hope this helps - and let me know if you've still got questions. Enjoy the mod!
My pleasure! I am doing swell, and hope you are as well. Your message has prompted me to give the mod a bit of attention, so stay tuned for a small update. It will just be a small fix to improve compatibility for other mods, but I'm also going to use the ! icon for resource collection (ore for Clint) and fishing quests.
Hi there! This mod is very cute and convenient, thank you for making it!
However, I do have one suggestion: the "love" and "like" indicators are very similar, to the point where the red scratch overlay indicating the character has already been gifted for the day basically makes them identical. I recommend making more of a distinct difference between the two, perhaps making the "loved" icon have happy, closed eyes? Similar to the "hate" symbol's difference between the "dislike" symbol.
"Additionally, a config file can be edited to enable a "cheat mode" which will show Villagers' gift tastes regardless of whether you've gifted the item beforehand; as well as enabling the quest icon for hidden quests in the game." Can you help me with that? I would love to use that mod since I'm a newbie and gift mods mostly show the common "best gifts". Thank you!
Hey! So, if you go to where you installed the game (this page shows you where the default install folders will be depending on your platform). You should have a "Mods" folder containing your mods, and inside that, the folder for my cursor mod. So as an example, I have Stardew Valley installed with GOG and the full path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Stardew Valley\Mods\ContextSensitiveGiftCursor"
Inside that folder you should see a file called "config.json". You can open that with any text editor -in Windows, right click the file, click "Open With..." and select notepad or whatever. You should see:
How would this work if I'm using a controller? Would I need to move the cursor over the NPC, or would it show the symbol if I just stand next to them with the gift?
Hey! Currently it's attached directly to the cursor position, so it's not currently set up to work without a mouse. I tried it on mobile at one point and the icon appeared, but with an offset.
I definitely plan to integrate for controller/couch coop/mobile users soon. Thanks for your interest, and stay tuned!
Pardon me but do you think you will ever update this mod for the latest version of the game. No pressure if you dont, just very curious. Have a nice day regardless. :D
Hi, thanks for your interest! I'm looking into rewriting it with the newer SMAPI/.NET frameworks for the new version. I'm busy with a lot of personal stuff and don't have a ton of time so its taken a lot longer than expected. ;)
Is the current version working okay, or are you having issues with it? It seemed to work okay for me.
Are you talking about this? My mod adds icons beside the cursor, so it shouldn't matter what the cursor itself looks like. At worst, there may be a slight overlap if the hands are bigger than the default cursors, but there shouldn't be any major issue.
That said, give it a try and if you're having any issues let me know. Be sure to attach screenshots. And have fun!

I share the sentiment of getting tired with the hassle of gifting
and really appreciate your mod - god send, literally, thank you!

Thank you for answering both of my questions! I hope you're doing swell
Hope you're doing great
Thank you again :D

{
"AlwaysShowGiftTaste": false,
"ShowSecretLostItems": false
}
Changing "AlwaysShowGiftTaste" to "true" will activate the "cheat" mode, showing gift tastes whether or not you've used that gift on them before.
The other line, "ShowSecretLostItems" will allow certain special quest items to show that may be considered story spoilers.
Anyway, I hope this guide helps. If not, feel free to reply with further questions and I'll do my best to help. Good luck, and enjoy!

And if it isnt, is it possible?

And thanks Ill go try it
