    hello, may I know this mod will conflict with custom npc which include their child sprite within the mod? such as Lucikiel, isla, jade, this might help alot, really appreciate.

    Hi! If I want different options for the same spouse, I'm guessing I would create a new folder (like "Sam2") and put the files in there, then configure the children.json folder for "Child_Sprites"": "Sam2" - is that right? Or do I just put them all in the same "Sam" folder?

    Not sure if I'm understanding the mechanics correctly, so wanted to double check!

      Hi :) yes exactly, if you create a new folder called 'Sam2' and you want to use it for a child, then like you said enter this folder name in Child_Sprites:
      "Child_Sprites"": "Sam2"

    Just downloaded both this and Unique Children Talk, and I'm really enjoying them! <3
    I'm confused on how to change the clothing for my toddler. Do I edit the Child_sprite line in json, or do I add a new line for the Clothes_Summer thing? I'm not code-savvy and I don't want to accidentally break my child!

      Hello :)

      In children.json you can set the folder (the folder in assets/Adopted or assets/Natural)
      For example:
      "Child_Adopted": "False",
      "Child_Sprites": "Sam",

      That means the child will use the folder: assets/Natural/Sam

      You can edit or create your own folder.
      for example copy Sam's folder and rename it to MyChild.
      Then you wrote in children.json:
      "Child_Adopted": "False",
      "Child_Sprites": "MyChild",

      Summer clothes you put into:
      UniqueChildren\assets\Natural\Sam\Toddler\Boy or Girl
      or, if you made a new folder :
      UniqueChildren\assets\Natural\MyChild\Toddler\Boy or Girl

      The names for summer clothes:
      Clothes_Summer.png
      Clothes_Summer2.png
      Clothes_Summer3.png
      Clothes_Summer4.png

    I got a ton of errors with PolyamorySweet and the creator said the source may have been Unique Children as it wasn't their mod. I am unable to save my game, it gets soft locked when I try to sleep. Here is the log: https://smapi.io/log/cc5a065e2c534310bf30995d83ff7e00

      Hi, I was able to save it when I removed PolyamorySweet but not Unique Children, so maybe it was indeed PolyamorySweet.

      Hello, would it matter that PolyamorySweet messes with how children are generated? I know you are able to have an actual child (not an adopted
      one) as same sex couples, would that somehow break things?

      Hello :) I don’t think it messes anything up. and if so, just open the children.json and change it as you wish.

      Hello :) Unfortunately not, because LittleNPCs converts children into NPCs, and my mods works only with Childrens.

    So what happens if players marry and have kids with each other?

      Hi :) The sprites for the children are in the assets folder.
      For example, if you marry Sam, the children will use the folder 'Sam'.
      If you marry a player, there will be no folder with that name. The Children will use then assets/Natural/Default (or assets/Adopted/Default).
      You can change this in the children.json under 'Child_Sprites'. Simply enter an available folder here.
      You can also copy a folder, swap pngs as you like (hair, clothes etc are all separately in png) and rename it, e.g. 'ourChild'.
      Then write in children.json:
      "Child_Sprites": "ourChild",

    Heyy ^^
    Love the mod but for some reason, I'm not getting a girl child (can't figure out which of my mods causes it) and I don't want both of my boys looking the same since I'm thinking of getting the other one a different portrait. Is there any way I could get the sprites to match the different boys?

      Hi :) you can open children.json and change the sprites:
      and look for "Child_Sprites":
      There you can change the folder name for the sprites for the children :).

      You can see which folder names are available in Unique Children\assets\Natural\ or UniqueChildren\assets\Adopted\

    Hello! We have narrowed our multiplayer issues down to this mod. I am not sure why but even when all players have the same version of the mod installed we often get the following error in our SMAPI log and the player trying to join seems to join and then quit from the perspective in-game.

    [game] Online farmhand 4720626570755570672 is in the wrong poll group. Closing their connection.

    Occasionally the log also throws another message though not consistently.

    [game] Changing net field parent for '' collection from '' to ''.

      Here you go~ I want to specify that this error does occur with or without any other mods- it is specific to Unique Children it seems, and we have narrowed it down tonight that it seems to allow the first friend to join our multiplayer game and not the second, it doesn't matter which friend is the first to join it will let them in without issue and then the second person cannot connect. 

      Confirmed with all friends they have the same modlist and versions that I am running and again tested this with only Unique Children installed.

      Thank you very much for the log! Hm, not exactly same mod list, one has 32 mods and the other one 20.
      But I think that doesn't matter.

      I would have liked to see a log with just my mod, but I understand if it's too much work^^.
      Unfortunately I don't have any testers anymore, I do it all locally on my PC, so I can't really reproduce it.

      Does it work with the new mod version 3.7?
      If not, I'll ask around what could be the problem.
      Because I don't know what I can do about it at the moment.

      I'm not sure if I could summarize it much better. But it does seem to be related to sending some network message to farmhands before they have been approved to connect. Which causes an error and cause this issue.

      Hello Toriad :) Thank you! That helps a lot. I see, I only tested it locally (with 2 games open), so I didn't notice it because the data transfer is very fast. I'll try to solve this.

      Sorry I have had a hard time with finding the time to connect with friends to test this since I last posted - yes in the log posted we had different mods as this was after our initial testing to confirm which mod was causing us issues - we added your mod back to show what was ocurring but didn't otherwise update the mods we had been playing with that evening. Removing Unique Children we were able to go right back to playing normally and without issue.

      My husband and I are unable to recreate this just ourselves as it does seem to require 3 or more connections to cause the issue Toriad elaborated on. I appreciate you looking into this and hope it is able to be fixed.

      Yes, with several people it is always a problem to find the time and desire to do it. I understand that :)
      If you all find the time, maybe you can try the new version 3.8.

    So, this mod says it's compatible with Multiple Spouses, but that mod is abandoned and doesn't work on 1.6

    Would this mod work well with PolyamorySweet, the successor mod?

      Hi :) I didn't know that, I will change the description. Thanks for the Info!
      PolyamorySweet should be compatible as long as the mod doesn't turn the children into NPCs or change their appearance.
      If you are using UniqueChildren and you are dissatisfied with the way the children look, then open children.json (after you have started the save game once) and change it as you like.

    Howdy!

    You probably get this question a lot, but does this work with SVE? Because I was thinking of adding this to a multiplayer game between me and friends. But while I can change the child png to look like the different spouses, to my understanding my friends can't do it for their SVE spouse since it uses the hosts files.

    Thanks in advance for the assistance and also for making this mod. There used to be one I used called 'Children take after spouse' but yikes outdated. Plus them being able to talk is neat in your other mod.

      Hello :) yes it works with SVE. The host can then change things in the children.json if someone is not happy with the look of their children.

      Oh, children can talk with the sperate mod:

      So you don't necessarily need this mod here :)!

      Oh wait is unique children talk it's own mod? I assumed it'd use this mod for that. I'm assuming the other is also SVE compatible then. Thank you!

      yes the Unique Children Talk mod is also compatible with SVE :)
