Hey there, I used your hat sprites as a base for a personal content pack of seasonal witch hats I'm using in my current save. May I request permission to share this pack publicly with credit to you for the base sprites? I used the flowery witch hat on the far right of your .png, unedited, as the spring hat, and the other three are edits of your "forest witch" hat with color palates and decorations added to suit summer, fall, and winter looks. Thank you for these adorable hats!

I want to replace the straw hat you can get from the easter fest with the straw witches hat. Is there any way I can do that?

So i downloaded this and unzipped it but it didnt give an xnb file to replace vanilla hat mod, all it gave was a picture file to show what they will look like....

if i give credit back to you for your work, would you mind if i made some edits and submit a few hats of my own? i really wanted to use the plain black hat as a base.

thank you so much for the lovely mod!

Would you be willing to share the pngs so we can add these wonderful hats to a DIY content pack for 1.3 beta?
Or put them in a content pack?
Pretty please with a Hogsmeade farm on top?

I don't have the time to figure out how to get these to work with the content patcher at the moment unfortunately. Maybe when 1.3 is out of beta I'll give it a look. Or if someone else has the time I'm open to do some kind of collaboration!

Until then, I'll upload a png of the hats so people can coble something together.

And because it's a png, I've put in some WIP hats that I never found the time to upload in the XNB. So 7 hats in total, with 4 new ones.

I'm happy for people to use these for their personal games however they please, but if someone intends to upload them in a mod, shoot me a message and be sure to credit me, LemonEX, and yuikami if you're using the new hats in the png file.

      Thank you so much!
I just want them for personal use.
      ETA:
I used someone else's hat content pack, swapped the png, and it works perfectly with all of your hats!
Absolutely in love with the straw wizard hat!
Molly Weasley is now tramping about the Burrow in style!

It was the first beta compatible hat pack I saw after the release, but I don't remember what it was, and I just searched my saved zip files finding nothing.
It might have been this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2043

I added the file containing all 3 of the hats and my saved files seemingly disappeared, copied in my backup of SD content folder and they came back. o.o"

Edit: I tried adding the flower hat only this time and my saves still disappeared from the menu but not from the %appdata% folder, don't understand the problem here >.<

I am unsure how replacing the hats.xnb file would affect anything in the %appdata% folder. Now just to be absolutely sure. You are placing the file in the "Steam\SteamApps\common\Stardew Valley\Content\Characters\Farmer" folder correct? The only thing I can think off is placing the file in the wrong place. I've only edited the png of the xnb, so I don't believe it would be able to cause any issues with the save files. If you're using other mods perhaps troubleshoot them as well? If this doesn't help give me some more info and i'll try to see if I can work out the issue.

Exact same thing happened to me when I downloaded the "all hats" file. No idea what that's about. I also tried a single and got the same results.

That's really odd. I'm really no expert on modding, again this is just a png edit, so I'm not sure what's causing issues. Is there anymore information you can give me. Do you use SMAPI? I'm a PC user so maybe using the files on Mac may cause an issue? I'm not sure if there's even a difference between the files for the OS's or not. The only thing I can think of doing is making a new file with a fresh install of the vanilla files to see if maybe somewhere along the line something went wonky? I'll give that a go and upload them soonish, so hopefully that helps?

EDIT: I've uploaded new files made with a fresh install of the game, so hopefully that fixes the issue.

So after coming back to this after a short while, I have realized that it was partially my fault for putting it in the wrong file. Apparently when you try to replace the hat.xnb in the data folder it deletes your saves(I have no idea why). That being said your mod works great now. It was just a simple human error. I apologize and thank you for your assistance.

I think the reason it would delete your save if you put it in the Data folder is that the "hats" file in Data is what hats you've earned. If it gets a file that doesn't match the syntax for the Hats you've earned file, it sees the whole save as corrupted.

It does not delete your saves, it just doesn't show the saves that use any kind of Hat (Which I guess after a few days in-game is every save).
Just delete the hats.xnb file from the data folder, and verify file integrity with steam, it should download it again and your saves will show up.

Maybe you should specify in the directions exactly what folder to put it in? Because the same thing happened to me, so I tried to upload my backup files into %appdata%, only to realize that if I just replaced the hats.xnb mod file (that I, too had put in the wrong place) with the vanilla file, all of my files came back... and I had neglected to update my backup files in a while. Lost almost an in-game year's-worth of work. It's a very unfortunate mishap, that is my own fault with the files, but this seems to be happening quite a bit. Perhaps just putting the file path at the bottom will save future users the trouble?
