The humble Dust Sprite, paradox of the Mines! Feeble, yet the bane of mid-game Stardew playthroughs!
I don't know about you, but I like the Burglar's Ring but I'm SUPER tired of grinding the iron Mine levels for 500 Dust Sprites every playthrough! I don't want to just cheat or skip it either because the ring's so powerful, though, so this is a small mod I made to solve that predicament! This mod uses SpaceCore to add two new variants of Dust Sprite to the Mines, populating the copper and gold levels so that no matter what you're going spelunking for, you'll be able to encounter these rascals and naturally work towards that oh-so-desirable reward! The additional spawns should also make it a little easier to stay on top of your Coal needs each playthrough as a side bonus!

On each Mine level with enemies up to floor 30, you'll have a 50% chance to encounter between 1-6 weaker Green Dust Sprites (They don't appear on the dark floors from 31-40 because I figured having these things jumping you when you can barely even see sounded miserable). They have half the stats of an ordinary Dust Sprite: 20 HP, 3 Attack, and 1 Defense, and give 1 Combat XP per kill. Their drops are similarly reduced compared to a full-fledged Dust Sprite, with a 25% chance to drop Coal (down from the original's 50% chance), and more level-appropriate rare drops like Copper Bars instead of Gold Bars and Cave Carrots instead of Crystal Fruit. They will, however, still have their 1% chance to drop Coffee Beans, making it somewhat more reasonable to grind or luck into an early drop and get some coffee plants going in Year 1!

On the deep Mine levels from 80-120, you'll similarly have a 50% chance per floor to find 1-8 Red Dust Sprites, a slightly hardier breed of sprite! Since the gold floors also come with tougher enemies, these guys aren't juiced up that much - they have 80 HP up from the regular sprites' 40, but have the same damage and defense as their cold cousins so they might get in your way but aren't very dangerous. Their drops are boosted a little, they have a 70% chance to drop Coal, will occasionally drop more nutritious Magma Caps instead of Crystal Fruit, and have a 0.5% chance to drop Dwarf Scroll IV, which in the vanilla game was the only Dwarf Scroll to not have a dedicated enemy to drop them at that rate (they instead had a 0.1% chance to drop from any Mines enemy).
Other Info:
- Extra dust sprites WILL spawn on slime-infested floors where normally only slimes spawn. I don't think I can change that.
- Extra dust sprites will NOT spawn in the Dangerous Mines from the Ginger Island quest.
- In multiplayer, extra dust sprites will only spawn when the host player enters a mine level. This may mean that the same floor may spawn multiple waves of sprites if the host repeatedly enters the same floor... so maybe don't do that.
That's about it for details, but I hope this makes that mid-game grind more tolerable for somebody!
