I'm copying what someone said below because they said it best! Start the game once, then close it. Go to the files open the "config.json" Open it on notepad, edit it and the save! Replace the original file with the edited one, rename it the same as the original I hope this helps! EDIT: honestly after a bit of scrolling through mods I recommend this one instead: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12869?tab=files&file_id=65055 it is much easier and not outdated. I don't usually recommend other mods when people ask for fixes, but this mod was last updated almost 4 years ago with a creator who isn't active. it has broken many times, and is annoying to rely on. it was very good back in the day, but now is just depressing.
I bought the nursery house upgrade 2 seasons ago and my spouse (Elliott) still hasn't asked to have a baby (I'm playing the female farmer). I downloaded this mod thinking I could force the process, but nothing has happened. I went into the game files and everything.
I do have Free Love and I'm not married to anyone else. I use Vortex for modding. I did only set it to 0.95, but I don't think that would be the issue.

If you're having trouble with this mod you can also use in console: 'debug pregnant' to get a baby the next morning. No save editing required for naming the child.
