FEATURE OVERVIEW
A very slight tweak to the vanilla chickens and ducks to make them rounder, cuter, and more squishable. The difference is subtle, but I think it adds a lot!
So far the following animals have been changed:
Additionally, ducks now properly face all four directions when walking, sleeping, and swimming! In the vanilla game, ducks use their back facing sprite when walking to the right and they use their front facing sprite when walking to the left. They now properly face all 4 directions like the rest of your farm friends!
The image on the left is my duck art and the image on the right is the vanilla duck art. You'll notice the lack of four directional movement in the vanilla file!
Update Marnie's Shop Icons/Blue Chicken Unlocked Icons
Because the mod is changing the look of various farm animals, the icons that represent them in Marnie's Animal Shop will also be changed to reflect this. As a lil extra bonus, I have also added a simple bit of code to the mod to detect whether or not you have unlocked Blue Chickens. If you have, the shop icon for the chickens will be updated to show the White, Brown, and Blue Chickens together to reflect unlocking the Blue Boiz.
NOTE: As of the latest version, you'll need to restart the game for the shop icon to update. I will be looking into ways to fix this. I imagine there's got to be a way to ask the game to reload the art for this during play, I am just not sure how right now. I will try to solve this in a future update.
REQUIREMENTS
You'll need the usual suspects for this mod to work:
INSTALLATION
Just like any other mod, all you've gotta do is download the file, unzip it using 7-zip or WinRar, and then copy/paste the unzipped files into your mod folder! I do not use Vortex to install mods. I left the option available in case there are people that do use it, but I have not tested installing via Vortex and I am not going to help with any issues concerning Vortex, sorry folks!
COMPATIBILITY
Any other mods that alter the same art I am would not be compatible. However, I do allow each animal and its variants to have their art replacements set as a True/False value. So if you like some other mod's ducks, you could use their art by installing my mod and their mod and then use the Generic Mod Config Menu to turn my duck art off.
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible for this mod breaking anything in your game. Modding any game comes with risks, so always be sure to back up your save files and add mods one at a time. I don't know why this mod in particular would break anything for anyone, but it's not on me if it does!
POTENTIAL FUTURE UPDATES
I plan to continue updating the art for all kinds of animals in the game.
Animals Left to Update
The following is a list of animals I intend to tweak. The idea is to stay true to the vanilla game's style and colors, but to make the animals a little rounder, cuter, or slightly tweaked to reflect my taste.
Fix Blue Chicken Icon Update in Marnie's Sop
As noted above, the current version of the mod requires you to reload/restart the game in order to see the updated Animal Shop icon that has the Blue Chickens. I feel like I remember reading about a way to ask the game to reload art assets during play, but I will need to look into this further. I plan on fixing this in a future update.
User Ideas
I'm always happy to hear ideas or thoughts folks have on the mod, but I am not gonna promise anyone I will add their suggestion.
The Future is Uncertain
Don't hold your breath for the ideas I have or for any update to this mod. Truthfully, my life is very hectic and I generally have very little time to spare for leisure. I am hoping to be able to spend a little time on this every week, but nothing is certain and it is very likely that it could be days or weeks at a time before I can come back to work on this more :(
Translations
There's not much to translate here, but if anyone would like to help translate this mod to another language, definitely message me. I only speak/read English, so any attempts I would make to translate my mods would probably be inaccurate. I am more than happy to collab if folks wanna translate the mod.
