About this mod

Decrease the price of cooking staples such as vinegar and rice in Pierre's shop. The prices can now be configured.

Permissions and credits
Have you ever thought that, since the price of Vinegar from Pierre's is 200g, while the price of the Salad that would require it when bought from the Saloon is only 220g... what is the point of making your own salad? Why bother collecting your own leeks and dandelions? Why bother cooking anything????? What if we all just starve to death in the early game to spite mayor Lewis????????

Then this mod is for YOU!

Cheaper Cooking Staples, by default, decreases the prices of the following items when bought from Pierre's store by half:

  • Sugar (costs 50g; original price: 100g)
  • Wheat Flour (costs 50g; original price: 100g)
  • Rice (costs 100g; original price: 200g)
  • Oil (costs 100g; original price: 200g)
  • Vinegar (costs 100g; original price: 200g)

Note that this is also equivalent to the price that each of these items will sell for, in an unmodified game; Wheat Flour or Sugar made in the mill ordinarily sells for 50g, regular Oil made in the Oil Maker ordinarily sells for 100g, and so on.

So, it will not be possible to, for example, buy Oil from Pierre, and then sell it through the shipping bin for a profit. You will simply break even.

If you have other mods that alter the prices of these items, I cannot guarantee that this will be the case-- nor can I guarantee this mod will work. Please keep that in mind.

As version 1.0.6, the price of each cooking staple can now be configured!! If you would like to do so, please make sure to have the latest version of Generic Mod Config Menu installed. Simply enter the price you would like each item to sell for in its respective field.
Note that setting prices lower than the default values of this mod may result in balance issues (ie. being able to buy items from Pierre's and sell them through the shipping bin for a profit).

I made this mod to play alongside a hunger mod, and wanted to be able to cook my own food so that I did not have to resort to either frequently buying food from the saloon, or eating dozens of low-value forage items one by one in lieu of cooking, which is quite time consuming. Of course, as it is, you will not save much money in the early game by buying cooking staples from Pierre's to cook at home. Hence the desire for this mod.

In fact, this is my very first mod that I have ever made. So, I hope you like it. :)
