For Stardew Valley 1.6+ only!
This mod works only with the changes made to 1.6, Content Patcher and SMAPI 4.0, and cannot be backported to older versions of the game!

(Requirements)

SMAPI 4.0+
Content Patcher

Expanded Shop Stocks was based heavily on MortaliB's wonderful mod - Everyone Sells Everything!
Sadly, the Shop Tile Framework mod it runs on is very glitchy on 1.6 atm, so I took it upon myself to make my own version that makes use of the changes to Content Patcher that rolls STF's functionality into itself! I'm a newbie mod maker and this is my first ever mod! The simplification of the process is what gave me the push i needed to begin this project on my own!

This mod is separate and in no way affiliated with ESE, however, and aims to do things a bit differently! I wanted to increase the inventories of the shops to make getting started a bit less of a grind, just without stepping on the toes of the crafting system or the shops unlocked as players progress into the games. To put it shortly, it should always be cheaper to get any of the items added by this mod by crafting them yourself, or by visiting vendors unlocked down the road! I also wanted to give folks an option to progress in the game without having to struggle with systems they may not enjoy, or may struggle with, like fishing and combat! You could even potentially use this mod to avoid having to be a farmer at all if you wanted to roleplay as an adventurer, miner, or an angler!

I have tested it only in the Steam Version for Windows so far, and will be testing it on Linux on my Steam Deck very soon! It's my preferred way to play Stardew Valley and uses mods flawlessly, as far as I can tell!
I don't have access to a Mac, so i haven't been able to test it there! Fingers crossed!

So, what does Expanded Shop Stocks do exactly?

To put it simply, it adds a TON of items to shop inventories around Pelican Town!

I loved the idea that different shops are being run by folks who specialize in their various fields and likely would know how to take raw materials and craft them into usable machines and such to sell alongside their normal inventories! So, i sat down for several days and got really comfortable with spreadsheets and a whole lot of math! I calculated how much it would cost to craft each item if you were to buy the materials needed from Robin or Clint after your 1st year, when the prices all go up. I also valued each other material needed at twice the value the player can sell them for. Once i tallied up all of the costs for the raw materials to make an item, i rounded up to the nearest comfortable number and called that the cost of labor, which is a common practice when selling handcrafts!

I originally tried sale prices based on year one material costs, but everything ended up so cheap that the prices were better than buying them from the starting shops and ignoring unlocks or limited quantity sales. I used Krobus's shop as the base for my test! Krobus sells 1 Iridium Sprinkler a week for 10,000g using the pricing points from year 1 gave me prices that made that sale seem too expensive and nullified the benefit of unlocking Krobus' Shop and visiting to get the item. I didn't like that idea as i don't want my mod to nullify the benefits of putting in the work to progress and unlock shops and plans!
Instead, this mod aims to add in conveniences and reduce a bit of the grind at the cost of spending more of their gold to get things early, or in bulk!

I play a heavily modded game with the Automate Mod and find that I can never craft enough Kegs and Casks to keep up with my demand. Even with heavy tappers there is just never enough Oak Resin! Using this mod, it becomes easier to get an entire shed of Kegs going, once the farm is making a solid income!

Which shops are changed and what do they get?

Here is a breakdown of the new items and my thinking behind including them where they are!

- Pierre

Pierre runs the local general store. if you look at the interior of his shop, you'll notice a lot of produce bins and folks even mention buying their fresh produce from him! His shop is also labeled SeedShop in the internal files, so logically this is where non-farming townsfolk would go for their groceries, and where farmers come to get their crop related supplies! The idea is Pierre's shop lacks a giant refrigerated storage room, so he likely gets his stock from local sources like the player's farm. He'd only keep in stock what can be found or grown in season!
Why add these items from a gameplay perspective? Seed makers! You will be able to buy seed makers from Robin so having a wide variety of things to toss in there to try to turn a profit on could be fun! Just keep in mind that the produce is sold at twice what the player gets if they sell to Pierre, and there's a chance you'll only get mixed seeds or even a single seed, so it's a bit of a gamble if you wanna get your seeds this way!
So, the following have been added to Pierre's shop!

   - Mixed Seeds
   - Strawberry Seeds (Spring Only, and are cheaper if you wait to buy them at the Egg Festival)
   - Tea Saplings
   - Coffee Beans (costs less from the Traveling Merchant. You can also buy 5 make a reeeally expensive cup of coffee! lol)
   - Sprinklers & Sprinkler Attachments
   - Ginger Island Fertilizers  (At 500g, this price may need to change if it feels too cheap, feedback needed!)
   - Fresh Produce, Flowers, & Forage (These rotate out each season.)

-JojaMart
The main competitor to Pierre, and the game's pseudo-antagonists, JojaMart carries everything Pierre does, but has a massive distribution network allowing them to ship in produce from all across the globe at a minimal markup! They also have the storage capacity to keep out of season forage and flowers fresh for far longer than Pierre can. The costs of shipping all these goods are passed along to the consumer. . . until they purchase a Joja membership!

In addition, if the player completes the community center, and Joja pulls up stakes, Pelican Town and the player will be cut off from this distribution network and will have to rely on whatever the locals can produce. Let's hope they all have large greenhouses if they choose to defy the mighty Joja Corporation!

- Robin
Robin is the local carpenter and her shop normally sells you two basic crafting materials, wood and stone. She also sells her own handmade furniture and plans for your own DIY projects. I figured that she would be the logical place to put most of the machines used to produce artisan goods from crops! I also expanded what she offers as far as crafting materials go!

   - Crafting Materials
- If its something she might find while out gathering her wood and stone, then you'll find it here. Fiber, Moss, Clay, even Hardwood!
   - Various Craftable Machines - Robin sells the bulk of all of the crafted items that the player normally unlocks! She is the best place to come and get a load of Big Chests, Bee Houses, Preserving Bins, and the like!
   - Warp Totems
- Handcrafted from blocks of wood and adorned with items of significance to the places they are tied to, these handy items can get you where you need to go in a flash, all lovingly hand crafted by Robin herself! Their price varies by the difficulty in reaching their destination, and are all singe use, so you may wanna stock up if you plan to visit often. Pelican Town Totems cost 500g, and the Desert costs 1000g (twice the cost of a ticket when you unlock the bus). The Island totem is much rarer and costs 2500g (2.5x the cost of a trip on the boat)

- Clint

Clint is supposed to be a blacksmith, and during the Stardew Valley Fair his grange display is full of weapons and armor, even Marlon comments on his skill at crafting blades. I always found it odd that his shop never sells weapons or armor and just upgrades tools and opens geodes. So i fixed that by giving him weapons and cosmetic armor themed clothing items. Clint's weapons are all ones that are not normally sold at Marlon's shop, so his shop becomes a great place to drop by when combat is feeling overwhelming!

   - Iridium and Radioactive Ores

   - All Metal Bars
   - Geodes (that's right, if you have the spare gold, you can buy any tier of geode you like, and even get them cracked open all in one spot!)
   - Common Crafting Minerals (never run out of Earth Crystals again!)
   - Weapons
   - Starter Rings (Glow, Magnet, Glowstone, and Iridium Bands!)
   - Armor (These are all just clothing items, but awesome for roleplay! Now you can look like the mighty warrior within!)

   (OPTIONAL)

- Tools! My wife asked for this one, and it proved to be the most difficult thing to add. . . and can be problematic, so I made it an optional download! Expanded Shop Inventories - Tools adds the ability to buy spare tools of any quality level. Be careful while doing it, however as tools cannot be deleted once purchased! So, don't go crazy and fill up your inventory if you don't have a chest to store your spares in!
You could softlock your game this way, so please be careful!

- Marnie
Everyone's favorite adopted aunt and animal lover, Marnie now sells her animal produce and even carries many of the machines used care for your animals and get the most out of their produce! She will even sell you the rare golden egg before you've reached perfection. . . that is, if you have a spare 1,000,000g lying around before you get there! She also sells a selection of other exotic eggs for more adventurous ranchers!

   - Animal Products (Even harder to find items like rabbit's foot and duck feathers!)
   - Artisanal Makers
   - Slime and Ostrich Egg Incubators

- Willy

This one took the longest! I know that a lot of folks dislike fishing and some players try to avoid it at all costs! So, i added all the fish needed for the bundles into Willy's shop along with a few extras for use in fish ponds, or that are commonly sold in the real world to be eaten! I also added in more baits, and each of the fishing related craftables! Willy is a professional fisherman, so it made sense for him to also sell his catch to the locals!

   - Seaweed and Algae (both green and white)
   - Beach Forage (need shells for tailoring, or coral for crafting fretilizers? Willy has ya covered!)
   - Fish (Sooooo many fish it made my eyes hurt filling in all their ID's! lol)
   - Hand Crafted Baits
   - Fishing Related Machines

- Marlon

The Adventurer's Guild is currently just a weapon and ring shop! Many plans call for materials that only drop from monsters in the mines, so i added these to Marlon's shop! I figured they needed something all their own since I added some rings and weapons to Clint's shop!

   - Monster Crafting Drops

- Dwarf

The last shop to get new items is the Dwarf's shop! I gave them a small collection of dwarven themed items for sale. If i missed something, let me know so I can add it! I thought about adding the scrolls, but you need them to shop here already, so they felt redundant! Maybe Marlon could sell them?

   - Dwarven Artifacts
   - Wearable Dwarf Helm (Diggy Diggy Hole in style!)
   - Dwarf Weapons (Very powerful and normally only found on Ginger island, the Sword, Dagger, and Hammer can all be found here for 50,000g)

Anyway this is my first Stardew Valley mod, and I'm pleased with how well it went making it! I'm always open to suggestions and feedback, so if you all think of anything feel free to sound off in the Posts section!
I also wanna thank MortaliB for making the mod that i fell in love with and decided to make a version of my own! They deserve all the endorsements and kudos!
I also wanna give a giant thank you to the folks on the Stardew Valley Discord's modding section! You all were a ton of help and very kind to answer my questions when I got confused while working!
Finally, Thank You to everyone who got this far, and everyone who tries this mod out for themselves!
