About this mod

Have you ever felt like Stardew Valley needed more grumpy old marriageable men? Well then this is the mod for you! Turns Marlon from a cardboard cutout into a real, friend-able, gift-able, dance-able, marriage-able character, complete with emotional baggage and heart events! CONTINUED version of Make Marlon Real from WerewolfMaster.

Hi, Ghosty here! I'm aware certain things don't work still as intended for Marlon, like, his position in certain festivals after year 1 or the fact that his patio's animation doesn't work. Don't worry, I'm working on it all. It'll take me time since finals are coming, so I thank you for your patience in advance.



ATTENTION!: Do not load this mod in savefiles from before the 1.6 update. Thanks to someone in the comments I realized that it breaks your save if it is from before 1.6. You will have to start a new save or use it on a save that you created AFTER 1.6 came out. YOU NEED GIL'S MOD TO GET THE FULL EXPERIENCE!!!

Transforms Marlon into a real resident of Stardew Valley. He may seem like a cranky old man on the surface, but I promise he's a loveable darling underneath!

DISCLAIMER: Marlon says "hell" and "damn" quite a bit. If this bothers you, don't install the mod.

Features:
  • Full schedule and daily dialogue based on heart level.
  • Marlon at all festivals with variable festival dialogue based on friendship level.
  • 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 14 heart events.
  • Unique Marriage dialogue, plus the ability to override generic dialogue.
  • Spouse Room for Marlon.
  • Spouse Patio for Marlon.
  • Updated vanilla Marlon events.

Installation:
Unzip [CP] Make Marlon Real Continued into your StardewValley\Mods folder

Config Options:
  • Override Generic Dialogue: (Options: true, false) This will override generic dialogue (ie, Flower Dance acceptance dialogue, bouquet and engagement dialogue, and marriage dialogue) with Marlon-specific dialogue. Defaults to false.
  • Portrait: (Options: vanilla, alternate, disabled) Chooses which portrait to load for Marlon, the vanilla pixel art, new art (in the style of DC Burger Portraits) or no portrait (for using with an external portrait mod). Defaults to vanilla.
  • call_me_kid: (Options: true, false) Option to stop Marlon from calling you "kid" (set to false and he won't call you kid). Defaults to true.

Compatibility:
  • Looking for Love: Should be fully compatible.
  • Romanceable Rasmodius: Fully compatible.
  • Karmylla's Maps: Should be fully compatible.
  • Stardew Valley Expanded: This is inherently NOT compatible with SVE and never will be. SVE makes Marlon an invisible non-entity and introduces a new character called MarlonFay. This mod turns Marlon into a complete character. In addition, Marlon's character in this mod is very different from SVE's Marlon.
  • Valley NPCs: not compatible (causes issues with the portraits).
  • Seasonal Cute Characters for East Scarp: not compatible (Marlon becomes invisible).
