1. Install the latest version of SMAPI.
2. Install the latest version of Content Patcher.
3. Extract into your \Stardew Valley\Mods\ folder.
4. Run the game through SMAPI to generate a config.json, then close.
5. Open the config.json with a program like Notepad and use the images in the References folder to choose the name of the "Horse Skin" and "Saddle Color" you want. The "Saddle Color," "Prismatic Hair," "Menu Icon," and "Horse Flute Recolor" options can be left blank or set to "false" to disable. If you can't get a config.json to generate, you can rename the example_config.json to config.json and use it instead.
6. Run the game using SMAPI to play with your new horse!

If you want to use different horse skins in co-op, you will need another mod such as Multiplayer Horse Reskin. The horse images from this mod will have to be copied into that mod's asset folder.
