Changelogs
Version 1.2.2
Added French translation for configuration options. Thank you, Caranud!
Version 1.2.1
Added trace message logging for easier troubleshooting in the future.
Fixed an issue in which the Log Menu was able to be opened in unexpected scenarios (e.g., during minigames, the end credits roll). However, the menu can no longer be opened during heart events nor story events.
Fixed an issue in which longer messages (e.g., the Perfection Tracker) would not be logged and cause an error in the console.
Fixed an issue in which the responses for some questions (e.g., during the Linus trash can rummaging event) caused a GameLoop.UpdateTicked event error in the console and the question looping in the Log Menu until the question is passed.
Version 1.2.0
Updated for Stardew Valley 1.6.
Added toggle for HUD messages in Log Menu.
Added support for changing portrait backgrounds.
Changed default maximum dialogue lines from 30 to 50.
Made Log Menu slightly larger and fixed portrait scaling accordingly.
Character portraits no longer render with questions, responses, nor mid-action dialogues.
Fixed an issue in which a dialogue line or a set of responses with more than four line breaks would not be broken up properly, causing overlap with other dialogue lines.
Version 1.1.1
Fixed an issue in which all of a character's portraits in the Log Menu would be overwritten by their most recent portrait.
Adjusted character portrait positioning and scaling to be more accurate with the vanilla game's dialogue boxes.
Version 1.1.0
Added an option to log messages from oldest to newest and an option to toggle logging non-NPC dialogue.
Adjusted text width and changed Log Menu portrait display based on in-game Show Portraits option.
Version 1.0.0
Initial release.

Log Menu is a Stardew Valley mod that adds a Log Menu to display previously seen in-game dialogue. This mod is inspired by the Log/History feature implemented in visual novel games and some RPGs. If you accidentally skipped through a line of dialogue or just want to look at it again, this is the mod for you!
Download this mod and unzip it into Stardew Valley/Mods.
Run the game using SMAPI.
How to use
Press L to display the Log Menu. The 50 most recent dialogue lines will be shown. The Log Menu keybinding, the number of lines displayed, and more are configurable: see the README for more information.
Compatibility
Works with Stardew Valley 1.6 on Linux/macOS/Windows.
Works in single player, multiplayer, and split-screen mode.
Supports mods, including UI changes, custom NPCs, and custom dialogue lines.
Translations
Translations are currently available in the following languages:
Japanese (by mitekano23) - not in current mod version, to be included in next version
Known issues
During the event in which Linus rummages through trash cans, when Linus asks "Do you think there's something wrong with what I'm doing?" the SMAPI log is continuously spammed with a GameLoop.UpdateTicked error and the question is continuously logged into the Log Menu. This happens until the player chooses a response to the question. Fixed in mod version 1.2.1.
When checking the Fishing Info channel on the TV, the 2nd page of fish information causes GameLoop.UpdateTicked errors in the console.
Log Menu entries that consist of five or more responses overlap the succeeding entries.
