Credit goes to kues1 (https://www.freepik.com/author/kues1) for the crumpled paper texture which I modified to become the background for the initial letter. This asset was used in accordance with Freepik's Terms of Use (https://www.freepikcompany.com/legal#nav-freepik).

Discover a mysterious conspiracy unfolding beneath Pelican Town's streets... I made this mod in about 24 hours for the 2023 Halloween Mod Jam on the Stardew Valley Discord server and I hope you enjoy! I have more content I'd like to add so if time permits, there will be updates in the future :)
Download this mod and unzip it into Stardew Valley/Mods.
Documentation
New in this update, there is a config option, Letter Random Chance. If enabled, you will receive the initial letter at a random time after obtaining the Rusty Key. If disabled, you will receive the letter immediately after obtaining the Rusty Key. Once the letter has been received, follow the instructions to trigger the event! For best results, full-screen the game and set your Lighting Quality to High. Enjoy!
Compatibility
Works with Stardew Valley 1.5.6 on Windows. Linux/Mac have not been tested but should work. Earlier versions have not been tested but should work. Please report any issues you encounter.
Works in single player and multiplayer.
