Introduction

This mod is a portrait mod specifically for Lewis, to be drawn in a high-resolution anime style. It is the beginning of a series called Villager Vignettes, where I hope to render each of the villagers, from vanilla to modded characters that I have permission to do, including their Seasonal variations. The style that I'm going for with this is anime style, but in a more neutral tone, that is close to the source material.

How to install

• Make sure you have SMAPI >= 3.18.3 , Content Patcher >= 1.29.1, and HD Portraits >= 1.3.4 (not that HD Portraits also depends on AeroCore)
• Optionally but very highly recommended, for seasonal outfits you need Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic >= 4.0.3
• Download the file either using a mod manager or manually. If manually, make sure it's in your mods directory.
• And you're done! If you use Portraiture (which is completely optional and not needed for this to work), it should also show up as one of the options.
  

Compatibility

This is compatible, and highly recommended, with Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic.
Other mods that update portraits can override this one, so it's up to you to make sure it doesn't get squashed.

This mod will not be compatible with:

• Mods that change the shirt colour of Lewis, or turns him in to another character
  

• Diverse Stardew Valley since the author has explicitly forbid me from it, however I encourage you to still check out their mod to bring more diversity of all type to Stardew Valley
  

I'm keeping an eye on various mods and as I get better at modding, if there's specific things that make sense to add to the portrait mod, I'm all ears and very willing to add them.

FAQ

Is this AI drawn?

Mostly, yes. I say mostly because AI is still not very good at giving you very consistent results, so I've spent a lot of time in Krita cleaning it up. I know that AI art is very controversial, especially in a community of creators like modders. All I have to say is that, to me, this is a tool that empowered me to do something I could never have done before, and it still requires a human like me to go in, touch things up (and you can see I'm not _super_ great at that but I try), make decisions, and so forth, so it's far from an automated process. But if you don't want to use my mod because AI image generators are built on mass copyright infringement, I totally understand and thankfully, Nexus Mods is filled with amazing, entirely human created portrait mods and I encourage you to support these authors.

What tool did you use to generate them then?

Stable Diffusion, with Mistoon Anime, and InvokeAI. I'm happy to share the prompts and configuration as well. Then I popped it over to Krita and cleaned it up the best I could.

Why is this just Lewis? What about the other villagers?

Lewis was easy enough for me to start and is one of the first characters you meet in the game. Robin I couldn't really get the prompts right to generate a base that didn't feel like a young woman, but I got something pretty decent with Lewis, so I went with it. As for why not the other villagers; I'm hoping to keep working on this and get them all out. But it takes time to make this, so I'll release them all as I go, and then when it's all done, wrap it up in an All-In-One package for convenience!
