About this mod
Adds 10 new alcohol items to the game. You produce them with a keg using vanilla ingredients and can also age them in a cask. Compatible with 1.6.

I never liked that potatoes made potato juice and that apples made apple wine so I've made a way to have a few alcohol artisan goods that make a bit more sense.
Currently adds 10 items to the game but may add more if I can think of other fruit/veg to alcohol combos. Any suggestions let me know.
All items are made with a keg like normal, no need for other machines. You are also able to age them with a cask to increase their quality.
The drinks will reduce speed by 1 like other vanilla alcoholic items and Gus will sell all of them (except Sake) in his Saloon.
This is my first mod. Hopefully works fine but let me know of any issues.
Please note:
If you use the main file of this mod without changing it, you will not be able to complete Pam's Special order of Potato Juice as potatoes will now produce Vodka.
If you have not completed this yet and want to, please read the instructions in the "CornVodka_optional" folder included in the main file to see how to change the Vodka ingredient from potatoes to corn so you can still produce potato juice.
If you don't mind not completing it or have done so already, no change is necessary.
You can also get around this by just spawning in 12 Potato Juice with something like CJB Item Spawner if you have that installed.

- Download Better Alcohol.
- Unzip the mod folder into Stardew Valley/Mods.
- Run the game using SMAPI.
Updating:
- Remove any old Better Alcohol folders you have in your mod folder before updating.
- Install the new version with the installation instructions above.
- If you want to change the Vodka ingredient to corn, follow the instructions in the CornVodka_optional folder.
Here are a couple of ways to tailor the mod to your liking if you want:
How to change base sell price
The sell prices I chose for the items are pretty arbitrary, you can change them easily if you want:
- Open the Objects folder in the [JA] BetterAlcohol folder.
- Open the folder of the item you want to edit.
- Open the object.json file in a text editor.
- Change the number beside "Price": to your desired sell price (e.g. Change "Price": 250, to "Price": 500,)
- Save & close
How to change sake recipe to use unmilled rice
I decided that sake would use milled rice as from my expertise in sake production (a single google search), that's what is used when its actually made. If you don't like the extra job of milling the rice first then follow the steps below.
If you are doing this then make sure you take any in production sake using milled rice out of kegs first before saving & closing the game and making the change, I don't know if it would cause problems but best to be safe.
- Open the [PFM] BetterAlcohol folder.
- Open the ProducerRules.json file in a text editor.
- Change the line that says:
"InputIdentifier": 423,
to
"InputIdentifier": 271, - Save & close
Gifting to villagers
Gift tastes for all are the same as beer (you can find the list under "Gifting" on the beer page of the wiki) except for the below differences:
- Kent hates Sake as it reminds him of Gotoro.
- Willy loves Rum
- Linus loves Dandelion Wine
Compatibility
I haven't tested this extensively or in multiplayer but I imagine that any mods compatible with this mods dependencies would be safe. Worked fine in my game with 100+ or so various mods. Might cause issues with other mods that try to add items of the same names.
Not compatible with mods that use PFM and have rules for how kegs work with vanilla items like PFM Keg Quality.
Compatible with Automate as long as PFMAutomate is also installed.
