~~~~The Lorax~~~~~
He lives in the backwoods (that spot above the bus tunnel when you leave your farm via the north path). He's always there, rain or shine, so you can talk to him even when it's a festival day or 1:30 am. (Tip: definitely talk to him on festival days.)

He has a lot of dialog. And it's carefully randomized so that you see a variety even once you've maxed out his hearts. Hopefully you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. :)

No, he isn't going to make you feel bad/guilty all the time. He does understand how the world works. But he would really appreciate it if you put a little more thought into your actions.

He doesn't like presents (with a very few rare exceptions) and doesn't think much of you for trying to bribe your way into his affections. He has a few easter-egg gift reactions, too.

He does like movies. If you still haven't gotten his hearts up by the time you build a theater, inviting him is a great way to boost friendship. Plus, he's got special dialog for each movie!

He appreciates good deeds. If you help out his Seussian friends with special orders, you'll earn Lorax friendship points.

He doesn't attend festivals, visit the island, or otherwise participate in human activities or capitalism (with one special exception).

He will send you mail. You may or may not appreciate this mail. That's your problem, not his.

No, you cannot date or marry him.

Yes, his walk cycle is ridiculous. No, he doesn't appreciate you pointing that out.

His portrait is based on the books, not the movie, which is why he does not have big, bushy eyebrows. However, he is still aware of the movie and would greatly prefer if you did not sing a certain song around him, even if it's "ironic."


~~~~Truffula Trees & Thneeds~~~~
Truffula trees are reskinned mahogany trees. Hardwood is now a synonym for truffula wood. For maximum Seuss immersion, it is suggested you not use other Alternative Textures mods that change the mahogany trees.

Hardwood can be turned into soft fluff using a geode crusher or bone mill.

Soft fluff can be turned into thneeds on a loom.

Everyone needs a thneed! (Almost....)


~~~~Special Orders~~~~
There are currently nine special orders included, but you will need More Fertilizers installed to see some of them.

Special orders for Joja can be fulfilled using the Joja Blackmarket if you have already completed the community center.

Some of the special orders have randomized features, so expect more variety than you would otherwise... expect. XD


~~~~Compatibility~~~~
To my knowledge, The Lorax is compatible with just about every other mod out there. However, if you have a map that changes the backwoods he might not like that. As of release, he definitely works with SVE, Stardew Valley Reimagined, and Revised Town. Some special orders may have their dropboxes in weird places, though, if a mod changes the vanilla maps.

~~~~How Bad Can You Be?~~~~

Honestly, that's up to you. The Lorax is gonna be grumpy and judgy either way, so there's no reason you can't use the Lorax while doing a Joja run. In fact, I happen to have a few mods that would be perfect for such a scenario...

~~~~Credits~~~~
Technically this section is a bit superfluous given the Lorax's Saturday Shoutout dialog, but special credit goes to Airyn, who did a great job on the Lorax's base portraits. Any aspects of them you don't like, assume those were my edits. Airyn is generally available for commissions at reasonable prices. :D


~~~~The Future~~~~
If you've been following production, this mod has been in development since August 2020 (!!!) and today it finally sees the light of day Nexus. It doesn't have all the content I wanted it to have, but that's because I wanted it to have everything. Future plans include more/better art, dialog for existing NPCs commenting on mail you got from the Lorax, thneed advertisements, and possibly even a green top hat and gloves.

In the meantime, if you would like to make an add-on for this mod, like alternate portraits, thneed NPC outfits, more special orders, a translation, etc, you are welcome to do so! However, please pay attention to the following conditions:

• Your mod must make this mod a dependency
• You must make it very clear in your mod description if you are changing any of my dialog and/or adding your own (I am protective of my writing)
• Your mod isn't anything a normal person would find offensive
• Your mod must not come even close to being "AI" or using a content generator/language learning model
