Changelogs
I am in the process of updating this mod for 1.6. I am a slow beast, with real world deadline projects looming. I thank you for your patience while I learn and implement these changes.

You may not dream of filling your farm with vast fields of sunflowers, but I do. Just in case we have this in common, I made a little mod for us.

🌻Why "heirlooms"?🌻

Heirloom plants are really kind of special—they've been around the block, and they're still kickin', often preserved by families and home gardeners for decades, if not a century or more. Being the gardening nerd that I am, I'm kind of obsessed with varieties that have been cultivated and improved upon over generations. "What's an heirloom plant?" you didn't ask? (I know, I know... but obsessed!... forgive me) Well, one of the big qualifiers is that it has to be open-pollinated: seeds have to be true-to-parent. Unlike hybrid varieties—I'm looking at you, Rouge Royale sunflowers!—where the seeds are either sterile or they produce something wildly off from their direct parents, you can save seeds from heirloom plants and get expected results when you plant them.

🌻Speaking of seeds... this mod depends on Multi Yield Crops!🌻

...At least for these sunflowers to behave like the vanilla sunflowers and drop blooms as well as seeds.

🌻What's Included?🌻

As of 1.2, I've integrated PFM, so now these sunflowers should behave in almost all ways like the vanilla sunflowers. All sunflowers and their seeds produce oil in the oil maker, using the same rates as the vanilla flowers and seeds do.

  • Mammoth sunflowers (based on Russian Mammoth sunflowers)
  • Ring of Fire sunflowers
  • Teddy Bear sunflowers
  • Dwarven Eyes sunflowers (based on Irish Eyes sunflowers)
  • Taiyo sunflowers
  • Valentine sunflowers
  • Autumn Beauty sunflowers

To install:

  • Make sure you have JSON Assets, Producer Framework Mod, and Multi Yield Crops installed
  • Unzip the download, and drag its contents into your mods folder

Each of the in-game growing times is based on its real-world counterpart's average days to maturity.  So the Ring of Fire sunflowers mature faster than the Mammoth variety, and so on.

Vanilla gift tastes are accounted for, so Haley will love all of them, while Sebastian, Clint, and George will dislike them.  The ARV characters are supported as well!

🌻The future is sunny...🌻

If you're the author of an NPC mod, and your characters love or hate sunflowers, or you want them to have a preference for one of these in particular, please feel free to message me or post in the comments; I'm more than happy to add your character to the gift tastes!

🌻Permissions restated🌻

You have my express permission to reuse and modify my original sprites for *ANY NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES.* That means you can redistribute but not sell my work, you can use it as a base for your own creations, but you must indicate that you've changed it, and you must offer any remixed versions under the same conditions. You cannot put my work into a mod behind a paywall,  i.e: (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

If you do use my work, I require that you credit me. And while not mandatory, it would delight me to know how you've repurposed my pixels. If you see my work uncredited elsewhere, please let me know!

All of the sunflower object sprites are my original work. The seeds and growing stages are recolors and modifications of Concerned Ape's original game artwork.

A statement on using my work to generate AI content: most AI art "generation" isn't actually generating new work; since the algorithms used to remix artworks simply seem to pull text and imagery from the sources they were trained on without stating their origins, I interpret this to mean that it's use without attribution. Since I license my original and derivative pixel art for Stardew mods under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license (Creative Commons attribution non-commercial share-alike 4.0), use in this fashion would violate the terms under which I open my work for use and sharing. It must be attributed, and the works you create with mine must be open for further change, remixing, and play by others. If an algorithm for AI content generation properly attributes source work from its training sets, I am 100% fine with my work being used to feed it as an input, so long as the product derived conforms to the rest of the license (non-commercial use, open to further remixing). If not, it's a violation of the terms under which I allow my work to be used.
