This mods changes the ring progression in the game in a way that every ring has a purpose, rewarding the player to seek out difficult to get ones. It also streamlines the progression a bit and changes a few things to how they should have been from the very beginning. This started out as an idea in 2016 but I never got around to it.

Early Game:

Upgradeable Glow And Magnet Rings:

  • Small Glow and Magnet Rings can now be upgraded into their normal counterpart with solar and void essence. Then those can be combined into the Glowstone Ring, instead of simply crafting it which made the other two redundant since 1.5. The recipe is still unlocked at Mining Level 4.
  • The Warrior Ring and Sturdy Ring recipes were made a lot cheaper to be able to compete as early game rings again, and the Sturdy Ring recipe now requires earth crystals and quartz again.

Mid Game:

Craftable Gem Rings and Iridium Band Changes:

  • Gem Rings are now craftable with their respective gem and one metal bar and you unlock the recipes based on your Combat Level in the order you unlock them at the Adventurer's Guild. Their sprites also change based on the metal bar needed to craft them (can be disabled in the config).
  • The metal bar can be either always copper, always iron, always gold, or use a progressive bar based on the mine level to unlock buying the ring, meaning the first 2 rings need copper, the next 2 need iron and the last 2 need gold (if you are not using GMCM, the config number for progressive is 0, copper is 1, iron is 2 and gold is 3).
  • There are two unlock patterns: unlocking the first two rings at level 2, the next two at level 4 and the last two at level 6, or unlocking them at levels 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 (if you are not using GMCM, the config number for the first pattern is 0, the second pattern is 1).
  • The Iridium Band no longer has an inbuilt Glowstone Ring. Instead, fittingly unlocked at Combat 9 already, it's now made by combining all 6 Gem Rings and 2 iridium bars, increasing every weapon stat by 10% and granting 1 defense.

(Just imagine that the images are updated for the new 1.6 Topaz Ring. It now grants 1 defense instead of the unused precision stat)

Jukebox Ring:

I added the unobtainable Jukebox Ring to the game. I made it work like a mobile Mini-Jukebox. The song selection menu opens on equip (so you can change songs by un- and reequipping). Of course, it also works in combined rings. The crafting recipe is unlocked when you unlock the normal Mini-Jukebox. It requires a Gold Bar, a Battery Pack and a Flute Block (like the one you got lying around from the museum rewards). Compatible with Better Jukebox.

End Game:

When you reach the Forge, you will be able to do far more than combining two rings. Now there are 4 classes of rings, explorer, berserker, paladin and iridium band (name not final), each themed after a different effect. It's now possible to combine as many rings of the same class as you have. This uses a modified version of Combine Many Rings.

Of course, you don't need to have all of them at once. You can work on them piece by piece!

(You can also still combine base rings from different categories, but only two like in the base game, and no longer the Iridium Band.)

The Explorer Ring combines the universally useful and strong perks of
  • the Glowstone Ring (which as mentioned is now made using the (small) Glow and Magnet Ring)
  • the Slime Charmer Ring
  • the Lucky Ring
  • the Jukebox Ring (okay, not that useful and strong, but utility)

The Iridium Band is the offensive stat ring combining:
  • Amethyst Ring
  • Topaz Ring
  • Aquamarine Ring
  • Jade Ring
  • Emerald Ring
  • Ruby Ring

The Berserker Ring combines every ring that triggers after slaying a monster:
  • Warrior Ring (Occasionally gain "warrior energy" after slaying a monster.)
  • Vampire Ring (Restore some health after slaying a monster.)
  • Soul Sapper Ring (Restore some energy after slaying a monster.)
  • Savage Ring (Gain a short speed boost after slaying a monster.)
  • Napalm Ring (Monsters explode after you slay them.)
  • Hot Java Ring (Monsters may drop coffee drinks after you slay them.)
  • Burglar's Ring (Monsters may drop more loot after you slay them.)

The Paladin Ring combines all the defensive effects you find on your travels:
  • Sturdy Ring
  • Ring of Yoba
  • Immunity Band
  • Crabshell Ring
  • Thorns Ring
  • Protection Ring
  • Phoenix Ring

Compatibility:
Incompatible with MARGO, please use Ring Overhaul for MARGO instead (unofficial update by Jibblestein). MARGO support is now possible by disabling the relevant features. Automatic detection of MARGO will be added in a future update.
Incompatible with Combine Many Rings and Balanced Combine Many Rings because we all change if you can combine two rings.
Compatible with Wear More Rings but highly discouraged since that defeats the point of the mod.
Compatible with Better Rings. This mod includes alternate sprites in the same style as Better Rings that will automatically get used if it's installed (originally uploaded as Better Rings for Ring Overhaul by mjlmjl888, integrated with permission by them and the author of Better Rings).
Compatible with other mods that change how rings look.
Compatible with Better Jukebox.

Requirements:
SMAPI: I built version 1.4.1 of this mod based on version 4.0.2. It should be compatible with a few future versions. You can get the latest version of SMAPI here.

Installation:
Install SMAPI. Then extract the content of the downloaded zip file into the SMAPI mods folder and start the game via the SMAPI launcher or Steam if you have set the launch option for SMAPI in Steam. The config file will be generated inside the folder of the mod. Close the game to edit it and restart the game.

You can also optionally use Generic Mod Config Menu to change the config ingame (only on the title screen!) without the need to close and restart (otherwise you need to restart) but it is not required to be installed.

Updating:
Simply delete the prior version, install the new one and check the updated config created after the first startup (Changes require restart to take effect if you have not made them with Generic Mod Config Menu).

Uninstallation:
You can delete this mod from your mods folder at any time to remove the features.
