As the mod progressed, files changed names or moved around, especially in 2.0.0 and 3.1.0. Depending on the way you update, these outdated files may stay present in your folders. Know that they are harmless and have no effect on the mod at all, but if it annoys you and you want to keep things clean you can delete the "assets" and "options" folders present in the "[CP] - Waterfall Forest" folder before updating to a new version!
TURNING ANY FARM INTO WaFF OR WaFFLE
- Turn an already existing farm into Waterfall Forest.
- Upgrade older versions of Waterfall Forest that were using the now obsolete SV1.5.4 replacement method.
- Change Waterfall Forest size by turning WaFF into WaFFLE or the opposite!
- Please make a copy of your save first! Learn how to find you saves here and simply copy the folder with the name of your farm.
- Launch the game and start your save normally.
- When you're ready Alt+Tab out of the game if you're playing in full screen.
- Click the SMAPI window (the big black window full of text that launched alongside the game) and you'll realize that you can actually type in it like if it was a textbox. Copy one of the following inside before hitting "Enter":
set_farm_type A_TK.FarmProjectForaging/WaFF (to use/change to the medium sized farm)
set_farm_type A_TK.FarmProjectForaging/WaFFLE (to use/change to the large sized farm)
If Copy/Paste (Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V) doesn't work for you (Win7 users may have that issue) just right click the top of the SMAPI windows (where the SMAPI name is displayed). A menu will appear with an edit option, check it to access the Paste command.
- Go to sleep first then after waking up quit back to the game menu. You can now reload your save and all changes will be validated!
REMEMBER THAT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, THERE ARE NO NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES AS LONG AS YOU QUIT WITHOUT SLEEPING. Even if something went wrong or the wrong map loaded, it's not important. You can simply close the game and no change will be saved. Going to sleep is what causes the game to save data.
WHAT TO DO AFTER CHANGING A MAP?
First, it's cleaning time! You probably have a lot of debris, bushes or cultures that were once on a flat ground on the previous map and are now standing in the middle of a lake or a cliff. To clean things up, two popular mods are highly advised:
- No Clip will allow you to move freely everywhere, ignoring water or other impassable terrain!
- Destroyable Bushes will allow any upgraded axe to get rid of misplaced bushes!
Second, you may have noticed that some things are missing, most notably the bushes or special trees added by Waterfall Forest itself. Due to the way Stardew Valley works some features will not be regenerated when updating to a new map. To get them back, another mod is advised:
- Reset Terrain Feature is designed to handle these issues. It's no longer updated on Nexus but its unofficial update for SV1.5+ can be found here.
Once installed and after loading your save, press "L", select the bushes option and hit "Reset" (If it's the trees you're missing, notably the palm trees on the beach, use the "Generate" option instead of "Reset" to not lose your already planted trees).
If you were already using Waterfall Forest before and just increased/reduced the map size, there are two things to know:
- If you increased the size by shifting to WaFFLE the new land to the East will be barren at first, but trees, debris and grass will grow back on it later! Bushes won't thought as seen previously.
- If you decreased the size by shifting to WaFF, know that while the east side of the map will become inaccessible, anything that was left on these parts will still continue to exist. They'll be there, but unreachable until the day you increase the size of the map again.
