This is applicable to Runes - trinkets which are crafted using the Rune Carver machine.
This machine is obtained after reaching Combat 10 and 6 hearts with the Wizard, and allows the crafting of Runes, which are really just overrides of some of the vanilla trinkets. They are as follows:
- Fire Rune = Golden Spur
- Ice Rune = Ice Rod
- Earth Rune = Basilisk Paw
- Arcane Rune = Fairy Box
There are know issues if you try to reforge these crafted Runes (trinkets) with an anvil later on. Trying to reforge these simply does not work with ContentPatcher, and so in V1.1.12 I turned off the ability to reforge these Runes. I also introduced a new option that allows players to turn off Runes completely, which completely removes the Rune Carver from your game. There is a sort of trade-off here; using the Rune Carver option, you get to make your own trinkets, but you can't reforge them. If you use the vanilla trinket option, you must hope for a drop from monsters, but you can reforge them later. Take your pick.
In the future, I will investigate whether the TrinketTinker framework will allow for me to code in reforgeable Runes.
NOTE: If you change to vanilla and want to change back to using the Rune Carver later, simply turn the setting back on in GMCM and then you will receive a letter from the Wizard the following day to re-teach you the recipe for the machine.
