Design Philosophy "A minimal effects, high impact preset designed for performance and subtle visual enhancement."
Development Notes This preset was developed to create a more filmic, stylized tone to better suit the gameplay experience of *Sons Of The Forest*. While the base game offers strong visuals, I personally found the color palette lacking in emotional resonance. This preset introduces a custom LUT to shift the atmosphere toward a more cohesive and cinematic presentation. As with my other presets, performance remains a core priority, with light and balanced use of effects to avoid visual clutter or latency spikes.
Screenshot Notice All screenshots were captured using this ReShade preset applied over official promotional images and/or screenshots with Overlay.fx active during capture. These do not represent raw in-game screenshots, as the base images are sourced from marketing materials by the developers. This method ensures consistent presentation, avoiding variables introduced by differing mods, system configurations, or graphics settings. No external editing or color grading beyond the ReShade preset has been performed.
Performance and Compatibility Performance has been prioritized — frame rates and frame latency remain virtually unaffected. This preset has been tested thoroughly on my personal system:
System specs are included for reference, in case of rare compatibility issues or GPU-specific visual differences.
Installation Guide Follow these steps carefully to ensure a smooth installation.
• Download the ReShade installer here • Launch the installer and select your game’s .exe file • Choose rendering API: DirectX 10/11/12 • When prompted, click Browse and select: T-SOTF-FirstRelease.ini • Complete the installation, then copy all preset files to the game’s executable directory • Replace files if prompted
Game Pass (UWP) users: manual ReShade installation is possible, but I do not offer support for this process. Refer to the guide here for assistance.
Display Calibration This preset was designed using a Gigabyte G27Q monitor, set to 8-Bit sRGB color mode. HDR was disabled during development, and OLED features are not used. Due to varying display types and calibration settings, the preset’s appearance may differ on your setup.
VirusTotal Notice All files have been scanned with VirusTotal prior to upload to ensure safety. ReShade presets and their configuration files are inherently safe, and NexusMods also performs internal security checks. Nonetheless, feel free to verify them independently for peace of mind.
