About this mod

A mod that plays back a ghost of your best time after completing a level.

Permissions and credits
Description:
This mod records and plays back "ghosts" of your best times in Action Stages, and even some mini-games, such as Sand Hill and Twinkle Circuit, allowing you to race against yourself for the fastest time.
The first time you play a stage with the mod, no ghost will appear, and upon completing a stage your time will be displayed in the upper left of the screen (differs slightly from the game's timer). When playing again, a flickering image of your character will appear in the stage, mimicking your movements from the previous run. Upon completion, your time, the ghost's time, and the difference between the two will be displayed onscreen. If your time is faster than the ghost's, then the current run will be saved as the new ghost to beat, otherwise the previous ghost will remain.
For those of you that are interested in trading ghosts, the recordings are stored in the savedata\ghost folder as .gst files named with a stage number and character identifier as seen on this page: info.sonicretro.org/SCHG:Sonic_Adventure/Object_Editing#File_Name_Layout

Bonus:
SADX Ghost Mod — Trunks Edition — this version saves every single ghost and plays all of them at once without flickering. Made by Trunks request.

Installation:
1. Download and install SADX Mod Loader first.
2. Extract one or both packages into the SADX/mods folder.
3. Open the SADXModManager.exe and check only one mod: either original, or Trunks edition.

Known issues:
  • You cannot acccurately race a ghost as Knuckles, because emerald pieces' location are fully randomized. The time comparision still works though.
  • The mod records even Tails's defeats (when Sonic or Eggman gets first), so if you are not fast enough, you gonna race a loser.
  • Ghost at Twinkle Circuit turn their heads when pressing arrow keys after the end of the race.
