I wanna start off by saying I really do love this mod a LOT, it's very interesting and fun but I've also been having a lot of issues with it first of all, the stay with me ring, memory talks like I'm supposed to have it already but I don't and the console command she gives me doesn't work, I've even tried different variations of it and none of them work, second of all, I've had a couple quests that won't trigger even though I've met the circumstantial requirements (if memory is even right about having the ring) and third, in the quest a chill I found, it gives me a prompt to activate the small rock formation but nothing happens when I do, I even tried asking memory to do it and nothing happens with her either, I really wanna play this mod all the way through but for the life of me no matter what I do, I just can't get some of these quests to work properly
EDIT: I figured out how to remove the rock in the a chill I found quest lol
So the ring is quite key to a lot of Memory's quests. You get this from the quest "The Dream" which you get from sitting on the chairs in the living room so that Memory talks to you. Its given the third time you sit on the chairs (first is just a conversation, second is the Assassin Hideaway quest, third is the dream quest). In a room with a statue there is a plaque that you can activate to give you the ring.
If you complete the dream quest and don't have the ring because you missed the plaque, then this is when Memory tells you the console command - I assume this is what happened to you. You can add it to your inventory using what Memory tells you when you ask her about the ring. See this spoiler.

You need to replace the xx with where this quest is in your load order. So when I play the game, it is 1614DDA4, because the mod is 16th in my load order (in hex). The best way to find the first two characters is to go into the console and then click on Memory. This will display her internal ID which will be something like xx02DA39 (where xx is a valid hex number). You need to use the first two characters of Memory's ID in the Rings ID in the addtem, so player.additem xx14DDA4 1 as Memory tells you. So for me, it is 1614DDA4. Hope that helps.
Glad you are enjoying the mod, its good to get feedback. Thank you.
thank you so much for the reply! I did figure out the stay with me ring command and I do have it now and I've been able to complete the quests I was struggling with but now I have a couple other quests I'm having some issues with too, the unexplained death quest won't trigger when I go into Lund's hut and in the reach the heights quest, I can't get past the 2nd trial, I follow the correct pathway on the floor but the doorway won't open, nothing happens at all
I also had a question: do I only gain memories with memory from quests she gives me or can I just earn them from spending time with her and doing other quests with her too?
Great, glad you got the ring. I'll PM you about the quests, that might take some debugging. You earn memories simply by talking to her, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Occasionally you'll earn more than one, sometimes it depends on your choices, and sometimes in a few circumstances you can lose them, but not very often.
Hi welwork i used to do that, now it even when I do theres no more option to tell her, even the wait here command only works until I travel somewhere, I admit its weird...hate to unistall her !, thanks anyway
I'll give you the code, but I'm surprised you need it. Did you find the pot of chilli's in the miners secret dungeon, up at the top of a large slope in the Dwemer ruin? You just need to find that and give it to Memory and the quest will end normally, then she'll give you chilli poison for your weapons as a reward.
Look very promised and very interesting but i need help i free all vilagers from crystals except from snowberries and dragons tongue 1.dragons tongue crystal decoder i find it in the cave swan neck but here must start quest swan neck...how start this quest? 2.i miss one crystal with additem mod is the snowberries crystal where is this?....i am serching everywere (caves, tombs, houses) 3.i start quest the unfinished tomb, i find Bellia and i have the rough carving item but i don't know where use it, if drop it the quest complete, is correct?
Hi, thanks for playing first, I'll try and help but I don't have access to a PC at the moment so it is limited 1. Swan Neck should start automatically after a short time, but if you have already found the crystal then that quest isn't needed so probably won't start. 2. Sorry, offhand I can't remember but I'll be able to tell you in a week once I'm back to normal 3. Just carry the rough carving with you. Sometimes when you cast a destruction spell it will cast another one of its own choice at the same target at the same time.
If you can't kill the necro's before they get to him then the only thing I can suggest is that you try going into the console, clicking on Kyren and then doing setav health 99999 so he won't be killed. If he is killed then he should have a book of maps that shows where the crystals are, but its not very clear (deliberately) and his crystals are hard to find so the setav is the 'neatest' way.
Running through the mod yet again. I was at the point where I can convert the alchemy crystal to a ring and had the quest to collect 10 stone hearts. There were 9 stone warriors on the islet. This time, instead of using additem for the 10th heart, I spawned another stone warrior by jumping on its rock. The warrior proved to be invulnerable to everything i could do. Thankfully it didn't hit very hard so I could take my time testing things out.
In the end, after getting a couple of destro/ 1h/ armour skillups over a few minute's fighting with it, I found that neither I nor my follower could even scratch it. So, back to the additem menu to finish the quest. Might be worth looking at, even if just to laugh at me.
Before the rock you jumped on there is another rock on the left by the shore. That's the rock you need it needs to be activated. Jumping on the rocks in the middle spawns the invulnerable one (you can kill that by jumping into the pool in the middle of the island, but you don't need to)
You'll face bears, wolves, trolls and spiders in the island's wilds. In the various dungeons there are undead, bandits and vampires. If you can whack a troll singlehanded, you should be OK to go.
I've run into a problem with the first of Dibella's trials, 'Trust Memory'. After speaking with Dibella, Memory and I are cast back to the mountaintop we started from and there seems to be no quest continuation. Memory won't talk to me on the mountaintop and can't make her way down without being summoned. Even then, I have no clue where to go or what to do next. Does anyone have a subtle hint they can pass on?
My character was automatically stripped when I reached the mountain top. I am wearing multiple rings though so maybe that's the problem. I'll have a looksee.
Edit: yeah, excess rings, so I took them off and finished the first trial. The second one is a head scratcher though. Looks very simple on the surface.
Edit again...the second trial has me stumped. I've tried using and ignoring Memory's instruction and have pretty much mapped out every route I can take from one side to the other and nope, failed every time. I've noticed that she doesn't give me her instructions till after I've stepped on two hearts. Is this trial a one-shot deal? Fail first time and you're out?
The points of the hearts on the floor are arrows make sure you follow the arrows correctly. Go slow and it should work ok. If you still can't do it I'll send you a workaround. Make sure you start by the door each time too. I cant remember offhand whether a lever appears or the door opens on its own so check that too. Thanks for finding out about the rings too.
I'm working off a save game I made just before using the lever to open the door from the first trial room to the hearts room (I reload that save every attempt). I open the door and the first two hearts on the floor point back to the first trial room. I step on those then I get to the hearts in the actual room itself. (I then have to step on two hearts in the room before Memory gives me instructions.) I follow the hearts' points to the middle of the far wall, but nothing... From the room's beginning, two hearts to the right wall, one heart towards the far wall, turn left for two hearts, one straight ahead, one to the right, then one to the back wall. I've tried stepping, jumping, sneak rolling but still no go. I've tcl'd through the back wall so I know which wall panel I'm aiming for but each time I retire defeated.
Umm sounds right but unfortunately I can't look at the moment, I don't have access to a computer for a couple of days. I'll look tomorrow and unless you've worked it out by then I'll let you know.
It's too far beyond me to figure out now so I'm off doing other Memory quests. Be very nice if you could have a look but I won't lose sleep if you don't. :)
I've also been working on Memory's other quests and, despite fulfilling all the requirements for them, I can't get these to fire up for me. Memory's Old Friend, An Unexpected Death, and the Soul Gem Reforger.
Having decided I have stuffed up too much along the way to fix my current game, I've decided to drop back to before I ever set sail to Mercal. Hopefully this time I will DO IT RIGHT :) The mod is too good not to complete in its entirety.
An amazing mod. It has so many parts to it, so many quests to do. I was gonna finish it before commenting but that might take weeks. A few observations on where I am at now, having completed 14 of the Memory-related quests so far...
The initial quest, the one to get access to Memory is long and does get a bit laboured at times. Ran into a few problems along the way. I brought the Telvanni agent back to Mercal and she murdered one of the quest's principals, wiping out one of my sources of knowledge of where to go. I used Drunk for tracking purposes but he moves far faster than I could, so kept losing him. Whilliam helped me out a lot but after his and Drunk's help dried up, I ended up grabbing a couple of the missing crystals with AddItem, as I had no other way to find them. Also ran into a problem with the Unfinished Tomb in that I couldn't find the person with the key. I know where he lives but he's never there. And had a problem with Memory's age quest. I had to provide 10 hearts to finish it but there were only 9 bad guys around. AddItem again. Those were the downsides.
Memory 's prison, now my player home, is quite amazing and quite unlike anything else I've seen in Skyrim mods. Very well laid out if a bit unusual. I have spent a lot of time there so far. Some of the realms I have had to traverse to finish some of the quests have also been pretty spectacular and took a bit of thinking to get around in. Mercal itself is pretty basic but then after the first quest, there doesn't seem to be much reason to go back there again. The quests themselves are pretty engaging and well worth the doing, and the rewards are nice.
LOVE Memory. For an AI-voiced follower, she sounds like a VA most of the time and she has that slight English accent that sets her apart from most followers. I've left her in her rags but given her a very good sword, and she combines the sword with her spells to take down the bad guys very quickly. She's very responsive to chatting and seems to have a lot of lines to speak, and as I've said, easy on the ears. Plus very good looking, which doesn't hurt.
Apart from the initial quest, this is a rather brilliant mod, almost DLC in size, and well worth the playing. Thank you Welwork.
Thanks very much, as I mentioned in the previous, constructive criticism is good.
For others who may get stuck where you did;
Kyren (who I think you are referring to for the Telvanni agent) should have had a book when he died that contained maps of all the crystals he knows about. It does make it very much harder though as the maps aren't great. Best to not look for the Telvanni until Kyren has nothing more to say.
For not being able to find people, or for following Drunk, everything should have quest markers, perhaps something went wrong there?
For Memory's Age there is a rock someway up the island that you can activate to spawn as many stone heart golems as you need.
Yeah, it was Kyren. Didn't want to name him in case of it being a spoiler for others. I did the Telvanni quest when I received it which, yeah, I realised afterwards was a mistake.
Drunk had a quest marker when he led me directly to a crystal, but his quest marker would drop if we got into a fight with something on the way. I'd then have to wait till he got to the crystal when it would appear again. I could try to keep him in sight at those times, but he was faster than I, particularly swimming.
Didn't ever get a quest marker for Bedorno even after getting the quest so no idea where he is. Whilliam and Trelawn are the only people I've run into at Mercal. I've not seen another soul anywhere on the isle and I've checked pretty much all the houses, shops and inns.
Didn't know about the heart rock but in the end it didn't really matter.
Currently enjoying the ancient thieves guild quest with Memory.
I think I may see the problem. The living statues inside the crystals are the villagers (activate the crystal in your inventory to go into it) and you need to get out of each crystal while leaving the villagers inside them unharmed. Then they will appear in the towns in Mercal. If you kill them while in the crystal, or don't enter the crystal before using the forge then they are trapped forever. The mod shouldn't allow a quest to start unless you free the correct villager so there's a bug somewhere in the Bedorno unfinished tomb one. There's another 10 or so quests the villagers give out if you free them all. Is that what's happened?
I will bet that is what has happened. I entered one crystal (for which I had a decoder) before repairing Memory's crystal and was faced with a pair of stone golems. Killed them both and got the 'dead villagers, you're a bad person' message. After that I didn't dare enter any of the crystals in case the same thing happened. So I then repaired Memory's crystal without entering any of the other crystals.
How the Bedorno quest got started I don't know, other than I tried to pick the lock on the Unfinished Tomb door and ended up with the quest. In hindsight, your approach is brilliant but when you get people like me that like to fiddle with stuff, it can go wrong.
And of course, now I have Memory, I can't go back and release anyone.
