Is there a way to change the message of "you fail to catch a fish!" to be in 1st person? I am using Your Own Thoughts which change these texts, and would like to make it say something like "The fish slipped out of my grasp!", but I think the message is tied to the scripts instead of the plugin.
I'll change the messages to use localized strings instead, which would allow for translations and easier editing to whatever is needed. You'll be able to change the messages to whatever you want by editing your language's file in "\interface\translations". If you wanna put up an "I Can't Touch Fish" patch or something, you can do that. XD

The only way to get Salmon Roe outside of the console or the AddItemMenu mod is to stand at a waterfall and snag a fish. Salmon come back upstream to get that roe placed so the ones springing up the falls are laden with it.
Well, Likel;y Arcadia's Cauldron as well, Whiterun's right next to where the river flowing from Lake Ilnanata joins the White River, and along the way it has one of the best sets of salmon runs in the province.
EDIT: This might be something the USSEP does. Not sure. Otherwise, you can edit the KID file and remove the ",0x10B035,0x10C3BA" part from the end of the Skyrim line. These are the waterfall salmon. You can touch if removed.
In my opinion, this is really an oversight on the part of BGS. They added the Salmon Roe in Hearthfires, but never distributed it in the game. Some mods that fix this: Containers and Leveled Lists Fixes and SkyRem Loot (Adds Salmon Roe to all leveled lists where alchemy ingredients can be found or purchased) Producers of Skyrim (Adds Salmon Roe to all fishermen, and makes them vendors) Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch and Apothecary (Make dead Salmon drop Salmon Roe) Merchant Wares Variety (Makes Arcadia sell Salmon Roe in Whiterun, as you suggest)
I've now added this info to the Description page, for anyone else who wants to fix this issue.

There is also this mod that turns only fishermen into vendors. And they get Salmon Roe.
Now I know you would say "dude, isn't that already included in Producers of Skyrim?"
You are correct. However, I found myself in a situation where I was already using Miners and Farmers sell supplies and Miners and Farmers sell supplies - Lite Edition, and needed only the fishermen.
