About this mod

Locks the effects of the standing stones behind enemies to not have access to powerful effects early on.

Description:

You can't get the effects of a standing stone before you don't defeat an enemy to unlock them.
I don't like that you can get powerful effects like the shadow stone just by walking up to it at level 1, now you have to put in some work.

Stones that aren't locked:

  • Mage Stone
  • Warrior Stone
  • Thief Stone

Every stone but those 3 are locked behind an enemy

How unlocking the stones work:

You walk up to the stones and when you leave the area near them, a quest will start which spawns an enemy in a nearby area (can be in a dungeon nearby). After defeating the enemy, the quest is complete and you can use the standing stone as expected again.

Map Markers?

By default the map markers for the enemies are disabled but can be enabled with a global variable for those who want it.
There's an optional plugin that does that but I think it takes away the sense of exploration.

The Enemies:

The enemies level with you and their starting level ranges from 10 - 20

Compatibility:

Load this mod BEFORE lighting mods or any interior overhaul. It changes 2 cell record but there's nothing I can do about it as I placed something in those cells.

No issues with anything that changes any visuals of anything near standing stones or the standing stones themselves.
Mods that change the effects of the standing stones will work fine, the only incompatibility is with mods that change the placement of the standing stones drastically (moving it slightly will still work but the quest might trigger before you get to the stone)
If a mod swaps standing stone placements, for example Lord Stone is in the Serpent Stone's location it will not properly work without a patch
It's technically compatible but it means that the Serpent Stone quest will start at the new Lord Stone location

If you're using Immersive Interactions, you need to disable 'touch standing stones' in its MCM because it can bypass the activation block.

Installation:

Safe to install at any time but it doesn't take your current standing stone away so pick the warrior/mage/thief stone if you want to have the whole experience of the mod.

This mod adds some quests and I do not know what happens with quests if you uninstall the mods they come from mid-game.
