About this mod

A lover. A curse. A cure. Uncover the story of a man who can only speak in a single sentence – 'a feathered friend is a friend forever'.

Translations
The Reach is home to many things, but none of them as strange as the well-dressed man who can only speak in a single sentence – 'a feathered friend is a friend forever'. Decide to help him, and you will discover a story of love, witchcraft, and self-discovery for the man at the centre of the tale, taking you into the mountains of the Reach and to one of the most scenic spots in all of Skyrim.

Features
A fully-voiced questline, with over 150 lines of spoken dialogue.
A multi-choice branching questline, where the player's actions and advice will have very real effects on the story's outcome.
Differing dialogue options, allowing more depth of roleplay – is your character kind and compassionate? Cynical? Tired of this whole silly affair?
A lore-friendly, interesting side quest beyond the usual combat-focused fetch quest that will fit seamlessly into any Skyrim playthrough.

Skyrim Short Stories
A Feathered Friend is the first in what I hope will be a series of quest modifications, that I'm tentatively referring to as Skyrim Short Stories. These mods will be small, lore-friendly, story-driven tales that are designed to emerge naturally over the course of a playthrough.

My overall plan is two quests foreach Hold – one about a monster, one about men and Mer. Each will have a unique, engaging storyline, with new characters and scenarios. Look out for future instalments, featuring a collapsed tower guarded by an ancient golem, a minotaur that is very far from home, and the strange disappearance of several Legionaries from Solitude itself.

Installation
Install using Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer, activate the .esp file and play. Alternatively, download manually and drop all the files contained in the .zip into your Skyrim Data folder.

Compatibility
Anything that makes edits to Reachwind Eyrie will be incompatible with the main version of this mod. The only other exterior cells touched are in the wilderness, and as far as I know, there shouldn't be any conflicts. If anything does come up, please let me know, and I can look towards making a patch.

The compatibility version of this mod removes any issues with other mods that edit Reachwind Eyrie. It simply moves the scenes from this mod that happen inside the Eyrie outside. It's slightly messier than the main version in terms of scene set-up and dealing with NPCs after the scenes have finished, which is why I didn't do it originally, but for those that want it, it's there.

FAQ
How do I start the quest?
The quest is designed to emerge naturally in a playthrough. Just install it and go about your business. When you visit the Reach, you might well find a certain verbally-challenged man waiting for you.

But, more specifically, he's near the shrine of Dibella, west of Old Hroldan.

I'm stuck/bugged!

Let me know what the problem is, and I'll look into it. I've done my best to ensure that the mod is bug-free, but bear in mind this is my first time. I might well have missed something.

I lost track of the guy at the start of the quest, where can I find him again?
If you lose track of the man at the very beginning of the quest, he's easy to find. Head past Reachwind Eyrie to Dushnikh Yal, take the left (southward) path, and look around that area. You'll spot him standing outside a new cave.

Why aren't there any objective markers?
The truth is, I don't think this quest needs them. I'm more than happy to put out a version that has them if a lot of people request it, though.
