No complaints, just a question. I'm using this mod without any problems but I randomly get an odd occurrence. Instead of the ore veins glowing, I get a small luminescent cloud covering the ore deposit. Once I deplete the ore vein the cloud goes away. Anyone know why that should be happening?
My second question is: people are talking about nif optimization. I'm coming back to the modding scene after several years and I don't know what those are. Can I download this mod for Skyrim Special Edition and use or should I get the one mentioned below in the link?
All credits go to ByblosHex for creating the mod, and, of course, to FREAKENSTEIN for porting it to SSE. I do not want any credits whatsoever. Now the mod should be perfectly safe for use, and fully optimized and ready for your Skyrim Special Edition! Enjoy!
Thank you very much for this mod. I use it since LE and using it rn on AE. Since my 1st look i cant play without it. Simple n usefull. Thank you again.
It's cool to see someone share this on SSE. I just hope you asked for permission. Baraton clearly states in his permissions that you need to ask for his permission before using any of his assets. That said, You should give credit the original author of the mod; "Glowing Ore Veins 300 SSE by Baratan". Baratan is the origin author and those are his assets. You only uploaded them here, but that doesn't change the fact that it's originally his mod.
I really hope that this doesn't get you in trouble with the Nexus. They have strict rules regarding this sort of thing.
That also said, the original OLDRIM version works fine in SSE, so I recommend using that one until full permission from Baraton is recognized.
Thank you for your concern, did you read the description? I am well aware of the rules for submitting other authors assets and did reach out to him before uploading this here and received his permission to post his asset here! I do not take credit for this mod and have already been audited by Nexus for uploading it as several users had flagged it. I sent them the conversation I had with ByblosHex (Baratan) gaining his permission and they unlocked the mod for downloading. I did try the oldrim version, but it would not work for me in SSE, hence the reason why I converted it.
That being said it's great to see Nexus users concern and their defense of original mod authors!
Confirming what Selfishmonkey said. The .nif files in this mod have NOT been optimized for Skyrim Special Edition. They appear to be just the old meshes copied over.
Its now August and I just d/l this. the textures and meshes ALL have 2011 dates on them. Whether or not people have had issues or not its still not a good idea to use unconverted mods
Folks, I really like this mod but, I too was hesitant to use unconverted .nif files in SSE. Although, after looking around at what it took to convert the files, it really wasn't too difficult to optimize them on my own before installing them into my game.
There's a great tool on the Nexus called SSE NIF Optimizer specifically for converting .nif files to the new format. Works like a charm!
Here's what I did and recommend:
Spoiler:

Manually download Glowing Ore Veins 300 SSE to a temporary folder on your computer to work on it.
Once downloaded, unzip the mod into the temp folder.
Next, download SSE NIF Optimizer to your computer and unzip it (recommend using same temp folder as above).
Now, run SSE NIF Optimizer and point it at the top folder for the mod. Make sure "Sub Directories" is enabled/checked and click on Optimize.
Once optimizing is complete, close out of the app and re-zip the newly optimized Glowing Ore Veins 300 SSE for install.
Next, do a manual install with the mod manager of your choice and point it at the optimized zip you've just created.
Finally, go in game and check out this beautiful, incredibly useful mod and enjoy having glowing ore veins without concern.
As the description page says, this "conversion" have been abandoned right after it was uploaded. While the game surely runs (allegedly) with unoptimized meshes, the game is not going to be more stable with them.
