so ive been fiddling with this recently, hoping to avail myself of the TrueHUD workaround. unfortunately, it fails at the last hurdle apparently.
the good news is that Survival Control Panel for 1.5 allows this mod to function without AE. it just works . . . for the vanilla hud. unfortunately, the tick box that allows the hacky TrueHUD solution just cant be ticked - presumable because i dont actually have survival mode =/
however, since the penalty bars work just fine for the vanilla hud, im wondering if there mightn't be a solution? i also wouldnt be surprised if it were not at all worth the effort, but i thought id ask. at least until TrueHUD gets an update, this is the best we got.
My best guess is that SCP is bringing over the SM HUD widgets. Which doesn't necessarily mean it would involve other stuff in the backend (flags and other global variables). If not, I'd be baffled as to why SCP would allow this mod to function at all.
Has anyone tried using this, along with Sunhelm and Incremental Injuries? It enables the penalty visuals with TrueHUD just fine but there's some weirdness when put together.
Sunhelm Survival's penalties seem to fight with Incremental Injuries' penalties when used alongside one another with TrueHUD, making the TrueHUD scaling bars freak out and I'm not sure if it's them fighting for control of the HUD or some direct calculation issues between Sunhelm and Incremental Injuries interacting.
Both mods spoof the same variables to hijack survival mode's UI bars. You could ask the author to make this mod a dependency if you felt like it.. and obviously make the necessary changes.
Is it possible for that exhaustion to display the penalties? Yes. Could I make a patch to make sure that happens? Also yes. Would I need to muck around in their mod to make that happen? Again, yes.
It would be best for the author of that mod to make the changes necessary, which aren't terribly difficult or complicated or anything. I haven't tried the mod, so I'm presuming that it doesn't work based on your request. If you haven't tested it, I'd do that first.
So I messaged the author of that mod, and discussed shortly the possibility of a patch. He told me
it doesn't truly cap your stats, just slows your regen severely past a certain limit
I would need to entirely rewrite his mod to change how it works to make a patch. From my understanding the missing portion is literally missing in the first place, so having it show up as a penalty in the way this mod supports would be redundant.
Haven't tested it, but the SCP would be pointless if you can't use survival mode without them fighting to see who gets to set the penalty percent. That said, having it simply installed shouldn't have any impact either.
The penalty bars were introduced for Survival Mode, other mods use them. Survival Mode however updates them constantly, so.. you're welcome to try to use the mod with SM I'd be surprised if you don't run into issues though as SM uses them strictly to track hunger/exhaustion/cold penalties.
I don't know, I would presume so.. but only way is for somebody to test. I just use skyui and truehud, no nordic ui unfortunately. Let me know if it works and I'll add it on the description.

Thanks!

I second this, a patch for Exhaustion would be the perfect use for the penalty meters honestly
It should support anything that has penalties to show though.
