CAN HE BE A FOLLOWER?
I spent ages converting one of my presets Bryn into a follower (here), but with mods like LazyGirl's LazyFollowers available I'm not 100% sure I need to convert all my others. LazyFollowers allows you to create followers out of presets with no Creation Club needed. I've included some instructions below.
WHO:
A request from Gaetan on the NOLVUS Discord: a Nord preset called William. Maybe he looks a little familiar.
MOD REQUIREMENTS:
I use a customised version of NOLVUS to create my presets, so if you want yours to match my screenshots then you'll need:
- The NOLVUS Modlist, with...*
- Schlongs of Skyrim SE (only if you want to see peen)
- Highly Improved Male Body Overhaul (HIMBO)
- Race-Based Textures (RBT) - gives each race a different skin texture
- SOS Patch by Sattyre (RBT patch for Schlongs of Skyrim)
- BnP teeth overhaul (I choose the darker version so the teeth don't glow)
- Norse God HIMBO Bodyslide preset
- Bits and Pieces Male Skin (RBT version)
- Shiny ENB Eyebrows begone
- ENB shiny beard fix
- Eye Normal Map Fix SSE
- Beards by Hvergelmir for High Poly Head
- BnP Eye Overhaul
- Kala's Eyes- Beast Race Edition Khajiit Argonian (for Khajiit and Argonians)
- Loverboy Brows
- Loverboy Eyes
- Orc Teeth Replacement (for Orcs only obvs)
- Cuyi's Bosmeri Antlers - SSE (for Bosmer)
*Be aware if you customise a mod list, you won't be able to get support from the mod list author, but there is an active and friendly Discord channel on the NOLVUS discord for customised versions where users help each other.
I also recommend getting
- LazyFollowers (to create followers out of presets)
- Miggyluv's Presets (Obvs) ;-)
PRESET INSTALLATION:
- Download and install using a mod manager
- Create a new character
- Click on the 'Presets' tab, and load "Miggyluv's WIlliam - Nord"
Note: If he looks a bit strange, try loading the required head file in the 'Sculpt' tab. Sometimes this helps, but most of the time this shouldn't be needed.
LAZY FOLLOWER INSTALLATION:
Download Lazy Followers and install it using a mod manager.
- Open up the 'LazyFollowers' menu
- In the 'main' section, select a template from the 'NCPs' dropdown (this will be renamed once you create a follower)
- Type in the Follower Name in the 'NCP Name' field
- Select a combat style. This dictates how the NPC will act in combat as well as what type of attacks they prefer to use, melee, ranged, magic etc
- Select a class. This is very important to match with the combat style. NPCs don't gain skills when they use them only when they level up. And when they do the class dictates not only which skills they'll increase but also the stats. For example, if you set the combat style to be a caster but the class to 2h warrior you'll end up with a high health, low or zero magicka NPC that'll be generally useless. The LazyClass spreads all skills and stats evenly and isn't a good match for most types of followers.
- Select one of the Miggyluv presets from the 'Preset' dropdown
- Select the desired voice type. The ones with an asterisk(*) at the end are the ones the standard game uses for followers and should always work showing the necessary dialogue. If you use a mod like Relationship Dialogue Overhaul you can also use the others. Remember that the voice is used from the list you opened last, the "Female Voices" or "Male Voices" menus.
- Select the race in the 'Races' dropdown
- Optional. You can add spells to your follower in the 'Spells' section. Just select a spell from the right list and it will be added to the left.
- Once you're satisfied with click 'Apply settings' in the 'Main' menu and then click 'Summon NPC' to get started
Note: the NPC will be naked when you summon them, so maybe have some clothes ready. Also, think of the children and do it somewhere private ;-)
