    Hello,
I have no light on torchbug... it's smaller but no light.
I use enb light and it's working perfectly (other enb light object works)
How can i fix that ?
There is no mod overwritting smallerinsect.esp

What am I doing wrong - insects are not smaller for me. Disabled even all other mods that edit insects and tried the pure "Smaller Insects" without requirements - still nothing. (EDIT: smaller torchbugs option from Rally's Torchbugs also not making them smaller)

Hey, that's very odd, with no other mods there shouldn't be anything interfering. This simply changes the records for the insects, so unless the same records are overwritten by another mod I can't imagine what could interfere. Did you try without any other mods at all, meshes and plugins?

I did, but had all the SKSE plugins enabled though. (Can't disable, because I have installed these plugins directly as a part of the base game, outside MO2)

Then again - SKSE plugins should not interfere with that kind of things.

That's strange. I have a hard time imagining some SKSE plugin messing with this, but it could be worth looking through them. Since Rally's doesn't work either, it seems something interferes with your insects and redirects them somehow. I would guess on the level of plugin records since my mod doesn't touch meshes, so even if something redirected your insect meshes they should be affected by this.

Another thing worth thinking about is if you have something affecting the scripts involved in spawning or harvesting insects. I really don't understand how those scripts work, but they seem integral for insects (my mod changes a parameter for the scripts), so it is perhaps possible that some script replacer interfere.

Maybe something baked into my savgames. I used an earlier save that loaded even with mods disabled, but even that save might have something hardcoded. Didn't try new game though, that's a last resort and really not a viable option for a game with hundreds of hours of progress. lol.

Hm, that might actually be it then, the scripts in your save might already be running with vanilla parameter. Try loading up the game and coc riverwood from the main menu to check :)

Nope - only "Smaller insects" in load order and coc riverwood - added some torchbugs with console (didn't find any around) - still huge.

If you use ENB Light and it is lower in your left-hand load order it has a firefly.nif that is overwriting the ones from Rally's and breaks their smaller patch and this mod (among others that touch the firefly.nif) if ENB light is winning the conflict.

I have indeed ENB Light and also several other mods that overwrite the torchbugs and/or fireflies. But - as mentioned before - even without any other mods my bugs just won't be smaller. And as the author said - it's not the mesh that's modified, but the records in the plugin file. So no matter the mesh, these bugs should be smaller. I've given up on this, since nothing seems to work for me. Only way I get these bugs smaller is to decrease the mesh size directly.

Quick question: Wouldn't it be way more effective to just change the meshes like Tiny Torchbugs and Bitsy Bees and Smaller Better Butterflies did?
This would make the need for patches and different versions unnecessary, wouldn't it?

Hey, I thought about that and for me this is the more compatible take but it depends on what other mods you run. It depends on your setup really:

      • If you have mods with custom insect meshes, then you'd need patched meshes
      • If you have mods with plugins changing insect spawns, you need plugin patches

Personally I use custom meshes but no mods changing the spawns, so for me this is an easy way to resize the bugs without additional patches.

Love the idea, those critters were huge!
However, it needs a patch for Butterflies Unchained and Picta Series - A Critters Life

      Thanks for the input!

I think picta could be overwritten by the vanilla esp from this mod. Picta seems to only change editor IDs which, I think again, shouldn't matter.

Similarly, I think unchained could be overwritten by the USMP version for anyone using both, they seem do to similar things to the records. People who don't use USMP will need a new patch though.

Also, looking at these esps I noticed I missed DLC critters ops. Update coming.

Thanks for your response. I made a patch collection anyway, since I had some patches for Picta laying around.

May I ask about those Picta patches you mentioned? I love Picta's swarms of torchbugs, which More Critters doesn't have, but Picta causes DynDOLOD to throw an error that I don't understand.

Does one of your patches correct that and ... if so ... would you kindly ...

      Patch collection is here:

I dont know about the DynDOLOD error. But there is a bug report on the official mod page, maybe you mean this one?
