About this mod

This mod replaces the vanilla 2D purple mountain flowers with large, sprawling thickets of 3D fireweed.

"Chamaenerion angustifolium, the rosebay willow-herb, is found across Tamriel, but nowhere is it quite as abundant as in Skyrim. 'Fireweed,' as it is called by the Nords, is quick to grow in in abandoned fields, along trade-routes, and in the wake of fire and disaster. Skyrim's scorched and barren gate-sites were said to be quickly covered in thousands of blooms, which may have contributed to the lands' quick recovery from the Oblivion Crisis. Willow-herb honey is also some of the finest in the business, a fact Skyrim's meaderies have taken keen advantage of."
- Narrelia Caro, Botanist

Chamaenerion angustifolium is native to... the vaguely northern direction. It's widespread in the US, Canada, the UK, Russia, and some areas of mainland Europe. It's US and UK nicknames (fireweed, bombweed) come from the fact it LOVES disturbed soil, like roadsides, the aftermath of wildfires, and bombsites. It's often the first to grow, providing a foothold for everything else. As a result, fireweed has been the focus of a number of studies on preventing soil erosion in harvested timberland and on construction sites. You can also make tea with it!

Performance Impact: Moderate-to-light. While the filesizes are comparable to Primula, the 01 and 02 meshes each have about ~2k and ~4.5k triangles visible at once. My laptop maintained his ever-faithful 15-19fps, but prior experience has taught me that means absolutely nothing. Please comment with your own setups and experiences.

Q: How do they look with grass mods?
A: Good! Chamerion was specifically designed to be identifiable among grass mods. The screenshots have a mixture of no grass, vanilla grass, and Grass and Ground Overhaul to give an idea what the models will look like within different setups. Individual images are labeled.

Q: Does this mod have snow variants?
A: Not right now, no. I may add some in the future.

Q: How do I install?
A: Install with MO2 or drag the "meshes" and "textures" folder into your Skyrim "Data" folder. That's all! If for some reason you want Chamerion to replace a different flower than the purple ones, simply renamed the mesh files.

Q: ENB? Reshade?
A: The screenshots are in vanilla SE lighting or Reality - A Performance Reshade. Individual images are labeled. For examples of some popular ENB presets, check the user submitted files! (Geez, you guys are fast!)
