You can craft a plush toy version of the wolpertinger at a forge or anvil with 1 leather, 1 leather strip, 3 linen wraps, and 1 filled common soul gem. Click the plush in your inventory to summon or dismiss your friend.
It is scripted to teleport to you on changing cells or periodically if too far away.
