MAY 07 2023 The gourd update is here! I decided to separate it into a different mod. Now that it's finished I can focus on the next update for pumpkins. Thanks for your patience!
Current known issues: -Vanilla version does not yet include any recipes that require pumpkins. -Pumpkins specifically planted by the player aren't affected by seasonal swaps and are always harvestable. This is not currently fixable as Seasons of Skyrim does not work on dynamic objects. Hopefully in the future po3 works some magic for this to be remedied.
Next update: -Incorporate hotfixes into main files -Installer for streamlined file management -Mesh adjustments so pumpkins sit on the ground better -Reimported pumpkins from original source for better texture fidelity -Overall improvements to meshes to bring them more in-line with my new gourds -Recipes and more patches
Hey all, quick update since my gourds mod release in May. I took a few months' break but I'm back now and updating my mods. In the meantime I've gathered up all the hotfixes for Pumpkin Plant Overhaul and put them into the main file downloads because things were getting messy. Hopefully that should tide people over until I finish the current bigger update. Have fun!
2. so from reading the description this mod has built on cross compatibility with unique flowers and plants? so if i have unique flowers and plants, caco farm overhaul and (of course) caco , this mod and the bos will replace all the pumpkins in unique flowers and plants with your models and make those models friendly with caco functionality? (making this patch: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/82084 no longer necessary?)
For myself the CACo version shows up as a missing texture purple pumpkin. This is also the only mod I have installed for use with base object swapper. HAve the CACO version and hotfix for CACO, hotfix overwriting main file.
There's probably a missing texture. I'll take a look and think about uploading another hotfix, might just include it in the bigger update that's coming though, it's sorely needed.
I made this mod when I knew less about how Creation Kit works. Looking at CACO in it now, it looks like it doesn't actually place pumpkin plants anywhere, just puts the pumpkin item on some leveled lists. CACO Farm Overhaul does place pumpkin plants in the world on some farms. I'm working on an update right now and can incorporate a version that has a 50% chance to replace gourds like the Vanilla version for people who don't want to use CACO Farm Overhaul. Thanks for pointing it out.
Very nice work but i think it can be cool if the pumpkin can swap with vanilla Gourds, like 1/5 chance to remplace Gourds Something like this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/78415
It does do that! Use the Vanilla version. It makes it so that pumpkins have a 50% chance to replace vanilla gourds. You can easily edit the chance in the ini file that comes with the mod.
I've actually decided to split the gourd update into a new mod! It should be up within the next few days, I'm just putting the finishing touches on it.
Excellent pun btw, you won't be disappointed with the mod title ;)
Little stuff like this makes such a big difference, thank you for working on improving things. There are so few visual overhauls of plantables that don't come with a ton of other unrelated features, so it's great to see them getting some love. The upcoming previews look great as well!
Thank you for your kind comment! I indeed think the little things add up so my current projects are focusing on a lot of plantables/crops/ingredients atm. Glad you enjoy!
Hello. The version without CACO works, pumpkins have changed!!! \o/ But I can't plant them in the ground, the requirements are met (FormList Manipulator - FLM) in the load list, and even installed a mod so that all plants can be planted in the ground. Pumpkins do not appear in the list for planting. For me, this is not critical, but I would like to understand.
Hmm, I think I know what might be the issue. This is my first time making these kinds of changes to a plugin and also my first time making an FLM ini so it may take a few tries. Would you mind trying this updated esp and let me know if it's fixed?
esp checked the new pumpkin, the pumpkin appeared in the list for planting, but it did not grow, waited 20 game days, garlic from More plants and recipes SE, managed to grow several times. And there is no pumpkin image in the inventory. I also wanted to ask what the 50/50 replacement means, should ordinary vanilla be in the gardens too? Or I do not understand correctly, I now only have these beauties everywhere.
Oh, I'm silly, I didn't include a model in the plantable's record. Whoops. :') This one should work.
The swap file doesn't replace gourd plantables, only ones out in the world (with a 50% chance like you said), so if you want to plant gourds you'll actually need to plant a gourd, not a pumpkin. At least that's the way it should work if I set it up correctly.
Edit: Made one more edit, here's the updated esp. Hopefully this is the fix.
So far I have not been able to grow a new pumpkin, but in the game all the pumpkins are new, I have never seen a vanilla pumpkin anywhere. There is a new pumpkin, I collect it, only the vine from it remains. After two or three days, the vine disappears and just the earth remains (this is in the NPC's garden). Let's wait for more from other message users.
Hello, i planted a vanilla gourd, received it with the help of the console, because I did not find them in the world. They grew up in the garden, but ABSOLUTELY ALL are vanilla, and in the world they are only yellow, as in the modification. I added a screen, this is just what you would see, then delete it after viewing.
This part is done on purpose. The pumpkin and the gourd are different ingredients with different effects. I purposefully chose not to give a chance to replace planted gourds because I wanted the user to have full control over what they're growing in their garden.
The gourds out in the world should only be being replaced 50% of the time though. I'll have to look into these issues and see what I've configured incorrectly. Sorry it's not quite fully working yet!
Hello, I figured out the pumpkin substitution. When you wrote that you can't repeat the same mistake as mine, I installed another mod I liked (Dovahnique's Diverse Vendor Carts - Base Object Swapper), these two mods are not intertwined in any way. And in the game, I saw that from this mod I had only one type of cart. Reinstalled BOS, and everything is fine, pumpkins are now replaced correctly. The problem was on my side! With the cultivation of orange pumpkins, no change so far. There is no image of an orange pumpkin in inventory. But I really like your masterpiece! I like that they change randomly, not clearly 50/50, somewhere around 75/25, sometimes 100 is just vanilla. Very realistic!!!
PS Added screenshots, I do not know how to insert them into the comment, unfortunately. You can then remove the inventory screen.
Glad you got it working! I'm not sure why you aren't seeing the inventory pumpkin - I can see it in my game. Maybe I didn't include something in the download files, I will double check.
I figured out what's happening with planted pumpkins. They actually are growing as they should be - the problem is that they spawn like 20 feet away from the fertile soil and are falling in an infinite loop through the map LOL. Still trying to pinpoint the source of the issue.
Edit: Yep, the missing inventory model was because I forgot a file. Uploaded a new hotfix that includes missing textures and mesh bundled together. Hopefully should have fixed pumpkin planters soon too. Thank you very much for all your testing, it's been very helpful.
Hello, pumpkins are displayed in the inventory, everything is fine, thank you for your attention and responsiveness. You make people happy. P.S. Your wolf is so believable, I just have no words! It is a pity that he will never run through the forests of Skyrim.
All I added to the update was new meshes, I didn't mess with the FLM ini at all. There shouldn't be a reason you can't plant pumpkins now. Make sure when you download the update to select 'merge' with your mod manager and not 'overwrite.' That's the only thing I can think of that may have gone wrong on your end.
Perhaps, to edit the display of the pumpkin in the inventory, they chose an earlier version, where there was no FLM fix. I installed via MO2, meshes and textures overwrite the main modification, but when choosing a plant in the planter, there is no pumpkin, unfortunately. In version 1.2, I didn't check the planter, because you wrote that the planter doesn't work correctly, I only checked that the pumpkin is visible in the inventory. Now I can't check it because I don't have an older version, I immediately delete the old version so as not to get confused. Sorry, I don't know English very well, maybe we don't understand each other correctly :(((
There is no way to grow a pumpkin because it is not on the planter's list. Both versions of the pumpkin are presented in the world, I can collect both options on farms, both options are displayed in the inventory.
I tried all the options, downloaded all the necessary archives, installed it into the game via MO2, but there is no way to grow a pumpkin, because it is not in the planter's list.
Ionil, I despaired of understanding anything, and downloaded ESP from this link and everything works there, and the 1.2d fix is not needed. Pumpkins are on the list of planters and they are growing right! The only thing that doesn't work is the pumpkin leaf animation. Turns out there is no working ESP in the download files.
I'm not sure what to tell you - I made an MO2 profile with only this mod and its requirements enabled and everything works as intended. I think something must have seriously gone wrong on your end, I've no idea why animations wouldn't work, there's nothing changed about them between ESPs. All I can say is make sure you have all the requirements and that you've installed the files in this order:
You can also try loading this mod at the very bottom and see if that helps, maybe something in your load order is conflicting.

edit: I just found your gourd mod, Kabu's Really Gourd Plant Replacer, and it is EVEN BETTER!

This is at Chillfurrow Farm outside of Whiterun. You may just be getting unlucky in terms of the random roll.
I can confirm however that pumpkins aren't growing for some reason.
