The four different panthers were sharing a single normal map despite being very different shades, which for my game setup (enb and weather, etc.) was causing all of them to look blurry and some of them to glow a little at night. The glowing part is due to the specular map being the alpha channel of the normal map, and its brightness being derived from the diffuse texture. The original has some mesh tweaks to try to work around this problem, but I wanted to do it through the textures for my game, and I suspect that some others may want it for their games too. So it's here in case it can help.
I did nothing from scratch here. Everything is low effort and letting the tools do the work, and derived from the textures other mod authors created from scratch:
