Ancient Nord Heroes Use Thu'um just got released! It does similar stuff with Dragons Use Thu'um but focuses on the Ancient Nord Heroes Hakon, Gormlaith and Felldir giving them new AI and fully voiced shouts!

They shout in Vanilla but they use very few shouts, that's why I made it 😁

    6.5 IS HERE!
Remade every shout from scratch along with all patches. Dragon AI is also remade from scratch with new combat styles! Invisibility Shout is added to MCM. Paarthurnax's Blizzard has a damaging frost spike effect now! Alduin's Firestorm shout is revamped with better textures and he
also has Frost Blizzard Shout now! Alduin's End Times Shout throws everyone backwards and drains their magicka, health, and stamina now! Remade all patches and added Real Life Dragon Fast Travel Patch to FOMOD! Added more sound fx for diversity! Will update the showcase video too sometime!

I also made a Shout List for Regular Dragons to see which variant uses which shouts!

Just noticed today that the legendary dragon I fought never once used fire breath or frost breath. Just kept hitting me with unrelenting force and drain vitality over and over, and would often use the phantom form shout. Spawned in an ancient dragon to test further, and it never once used fire breath or frost breath, either. Lastly, spawned in a serpentine dragon, and it used fire breath a couple of times, but honestly it mostly just sat there staring at me while hovering.

I don't have any mods that modify dragons, other than Edmond's Alduin and Durnehviir and Talkative Dragons. Should I just disable unrelenting force? Anything I should do to test further?

UPDATE: Something is definitely up with this latest update. The AI seems busted. Durnehviir does absolutely nothing but fly around and hover in place, and regular dragons just spam drain vitality and unrelenting force, never using any other shouts. Disabling those two shouts in the MCM just causes the dragons to fly around doing nothing but taunting. Like I said before, I've got zero mods that modify dragons, other than Edmond's Alduin and Durnehviir and Talkative Dragons. They never created an issue before.

UPDATE #2 W/ POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Okay, I decided to uninstall and reinstall this mod, its patches, AND Talkative Dragons and now the dragons are behaving like they should. In fact, the change in behavior was immediately noticeable. Seems like last time I updated this mod, I ran into some weird issues and ended up correcting them by uninstalling and reinstalling this mod, its patches, AND Talkative Dragons. Going forward, I'll probably just repeat this process for any updates. This mod is simply too good to pass up.

For anyone having issues with weird AI behavior, try doing what I did and see if it corrects the issue.

I'm mid-save and so stuck on 6.0, but I may have found a potential bug with at least that version. I was having an issue where dragons would hang in the air and move very slowly. Saving and re-loading seems to fix it.
So, I used More Informative Console to list the active effects and saw that the "stop flying" effect was active on the dragon. Once I saved and re-loading, the dragon behaved normally and the "stop flying" effect was inactive.
I can't say for sure if it's a bug with this mod or at least the 6.0 version, or a conflict with something else that I can't place yet.

Also, how bad would it break things to uninstall, clean my save, and re-install? Some mods you can get away with that (for the most part,) and some mods are a complete disaster if you even think about doing it.

Did you update from 6.0 to 6.5 mid save? You should be cautious with updating from 6.5 as stated in the logs since the latest version introduces new scripts, effects and AI. That stop flying effect was on earlier versions and removing the SPID file fixes it but the latests versions dont have that.

So, could I just comment out that spell on the ini or something? And, is it safe to update to 6 to 6.5?

Yes you can comment out that spell from the ini. But you need a new game unless you wanna risk things with left over scripts. I would ideally recommend finishing your playthrough first before updating tbh

So I've been using CHIM (i. e. console commands) to test my dragon mods since I rarely start the main quest, and I think your mod works, but I have a question - does it actually removes Breath Attacks from dragons? Spawned legendary and revered dragons used variety of Shouts, but no Breath Attacks.

They use all breath attacks included. What mods do you use and what is your load order?

According to XEdit, DUT Deadly Dragons patch is the last one overwriting those dragons. No fixed dragon mod list, currently using DUT, Deadly Dragons; deciding between GoT and DragonsSE replacer; may possibly add DCO and Kulharin's Patch for that.

If I read XEdit correctly, Elemental breaths are just one out available shouts to those dragons? It could be that I kill them with console before they use them? They used at least 5/10 different Shouts.

Update: Tested with all previously mentioned mods, Dragon AI was extremely chaotic, but glorious to behold. Elemental breath was indeed used, only once during the entire combat. Dragon preferred to use control and defensive shouts while fighting in melee.

Make sure Dragons Use Thu'um goes AFTER all dragon mods. Then after Dragons Use Thu'um, place the patches according to the load order of your dragon mods 😊

I don't think there was any problem previously, Legendary Dragon just likes to use Drain Vitality instead of Elemental Breath. Did extensive testing with Deadly Dragons mod. Didn't manage to test all dragons, but all tested used elemental attacks as well as vast variety of shouts. Added Better and Realistic Dragon Melee + Better Dragon Breath. Your mod is very impressive regarding dragon AI.

Still in a process of testing Dragon mods to find something which fits my loadout, while checking Epic Dragon Combat, I noticed your patch makes Undead Dragons from that mod invisible. I am pretty sure it's do to changing those dragons races, I experimented in XEdit and reverting the race to EDC's one fixed it.

Got yeeted by dragon multiple time in fight and it's fire/frost shout are a pain in the butt, and it also disarm, this mod is never gonna leave my mod list forever

My only gripe with the disarm shout is that the disarm doesn't actually knock weapon off player hand, but merely unequip it, I spend a few minutes looking for my weapon only to discover that dagger is in my inventory, I thought the disarm shout are supposed to knock weapon to the ground

Many people were complaining how the disarm shout would make them lose their weapons in fights so unequiping seemed to be the best workaround

    Hi
I think something is wrong with my dragon after the latest patch. I don't know why, but when it lands, it dies right away. Even though I didn't do anything.
I'm using epic dragon combat redone patch, ultimate shouts patch, and dragon combat overhaul upgraded patch.
    Do you have any guesses??

That is very weird. But not related to my mod. Dragons in vanilla when killed, have to land to die. Unless you use any mods like dragons die mid flight or etc. Or unless you or your followers or an npc does crazy damage to the dragon and kill it mid air.

I don't think it's a problem with this mod either. I think it's a conflict with some mod, but those are the only three dragon-related mods I use.
The dragon literally dies the moment it lands on the ground. My partner and I have no way to attack it in the air, and even though we didn't attack it when we first landed, the dragon died.
It's very strange. At first I thought it was a bug, but this happened 5 times.
I started a new game after the update, so I don't think it's a problem with the update during the game... The last mod that changed those dragons was the epic dragon combat redone patch.
I'm a newbie at modding and no matter how much I think about it I can't figure out what the reason is. Could you help me out a little bit?? Do you have any guesses on what parts I should look into??

Sure let me see what I can do. I did a quick search and found this maybe it can help you?  I find googling the issue is quite helpful since someone else most likely had a similar issue https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/9wcfeh/randomly_encountered_dragons_die_when_they_land/

Yes, that's right. I did a lot of Googling before posting this.
For those with the same symptoms as me, it was either not resolved or was a problem with a mod that had nothing to do with me.
I have no idea what's going on... I don't know where to start checking my mod list.
      Anyway, thanks for the help!

So actually the problem is maybe I'm trying to use too many dragon mods and I can't get them to all work together just right. I'm trying to use Deadly Dragons - Epic Dragon Combat REDONE - Better Dragon Breath - AOE ground walls and FX - Dragons Use Thu'um - Better and Realistic Dragon Melee. I know there's a 3-way compatibility patch for DUT, Epic dragon Combat, and deadly dragons, but when I throw better and realistic dragon melee in the mix things start getting overwritten. I'm guessing I either need to accept some things being overwritten or a 4-way patch would be needed.

  15. So love the New AI and how the dragon react and fight but getting Fus Ro Dah alot off the slopes of mountains and hills when getting word walls is a little bit tedious is their a way to make their thu'um only stagger you instead of slinging you like a rock or pebble.

Probably not :( the best I can do is give you the cliche advice of positioning yourself strategically :D
    2. Yeah but you know the dragon that some times spawns at High Hrothgar he keeps having a field day with Fus Ro dahing my ass off the mountain before I even meet the greybeards which is pretty funny to be honest like I said I don't mind it to much but it can be annoying cause you know Bethesda physics are crazy when I Fus Ro Dah a mf they barely go anywhere when I get the same treatment I just keep bouncing and falling then die Lol.

if you (or anyone else reading this) is still having issues with dragons yeeting you off cliffs, make sure you have some sort of ward spell. any level can do. they can negate many shouts entirely.

You can also dodge their shouts, or hide behind stuff like trees rocks etc
