"I must know: are the stories true? Surely you've heard them. Tales of the Stones granting powers to Heroes of old, those special few being able to choose any stone to rewrite his fate... I have always felt that I was one of the few whose fate was not sealed at birth by the stars overhead. One of the few who could use these stones... I have bested the Companions of Whiterun in combat, and performed deeds worthy of everlasting praise in song from the Bards College. No task was too small or great if it could bring me honor, glory, proof that I was worthy of the Stones' power... And yet, nothing."

(Watcher of Stones, by Gelyph Sig, Thane of Bjorin)

==================================

How can a level 1 player touch a Standing Stone and instantly gain all its power, yet no other NPC has that ability? Why aren't hordes of bandits guarding the Stones and charging handsomely for their use? This mod answers these questions.

BACKGROUND:
  • Ever since the dragons were conquered many years ago, the Standing Stones have lain dormant.
  • People have heard of the Stones' power, but no one today knows how to access that power.
  • Something new has happened in Tamriel that has awakened the Stones, but their touch can be fatal to those unworthy.
  • Prove that you are worthy, and gain the ability to touch the Stones!

FAQ:
Q: Is this compatible with mod X?
A: Probably, I have not changed any existing quest, script, activator, or formid in the game.

Q: Can I install this mid-game without issues?
A: Yes, but chances are you have already proved your worthiness. (If you see no difference after installing this mod, then you've already become worthy. Also, see last 2 questions below.)

Q: Is this immersive?
A: It makes better sense than the vanilla game.

Q: Is this lore friendly?
A: I'm extrapolating a bit on things I've read, so I'd say "kind of." :)

Q: What happens if I'm not worthy and I touch a Stone?
A: Try it and find out. bhwaaahahahaha

Q: How can I become worthy?
A: The power of the Stones is somehow connected to the dragons. Now that they're back.... (If you want the entire answer, click the spoiler.)
Spoiler:
Show

To become worthy, kill at least one dragon and absorb its soul.

Q: Can you add more exploits to the list of achievements to become worthy?
A: Sure, give me an example and if it seems reasonable (and compatible) I'll see what I can do.
