About this mod

The slightly silly, yet undeniably recognisable attire donned by Kain as he massacred his foes throughout Blood Omen 2.

This is my first mod here, and also my first time modeling in 3d. As you'll no doubt see this thing is lucky to even be alive, but I couldn't find a form of this armor anywhere online. Maybe a better version exists out there, but I'm tired of looking. One grueling week of learning how to model an armor set, as well as port it to Skyrim without crashing the game, and you get this sucker.

Notice: AlucardWK was kind enough to throw his own spin on this armor set. If you want something a little spicy and a lot more detailed, consider checking it out. You can find the link in the requirements tab. It still requires you download the Ultimate Edition (V1 in particular), but it has a brand new feel than some of you might prefer over the base version. If anyone else wants to give it a go and make their own alterations, feel free; as I say below, just be respectful and give credit when it's due.

Warning for users of the Retex files: If you wish to use any of them, I'd reccomend opening them up and deleting the normals once installed (for MO2 users). Ultimate V2 and V3 have updated normals, and these Retex files have outdated ones that will overwrite the new ones. Unless you want super plastic parts again, be wary and only keep the textures of these files. Basically keep the ones ending in '_D', and delete the ones with '_N'. If installing manually, then just ignore the '_N' files and install the '_D' ones.

Outdated - Is it perfect? Heck no, it's barely even functional, but it's all I can muster for now - an entire week of headache is long enough thank you. Feel free to do whatever with it. Port it to anything, retexture if you desire; heck, go ahead and convert it to any body you want, or even use parts in your own mods.

As of now - It works just fine. For those who use HIMBO, I believe the body type I based this armor around was the ZEROED SLIDERS option for OBODY. Not quite sure, but that may be the one you want if mismatched body shape really bothers you.

Outdated - There is a catch though. This thing is, as I made clear so far, drowning in a few issues. Clipping is a fair one, and the model was partially eaten leaving Blender. If you want to use this mod for anything then be my guest, but I'd heavily suggest you make your own version; I can almost guarantee it'll work out better than trying to decipher this thing.

As of now - I haven't found any major clipping in the Ultimate Edition, (Major issues fixed in V2). Same rules still apply though: you can do whatever with this mod, so long as what's created remains free (Not used in paid mods). Everyone is free to take bits and pieces for their own armors, and if you have the skill and know-how, you can convert it to other body types. Feel free to upload to other sites if you want, but you'd need to remove the actual HIMBO body from the armor and put in the base Skyrim body, as I don't know if Kreiste would approve otherwise. All I ask is you give proper credit when using pieces, or porting to other sites (Don't claim what you didn't make as your own). I myself never designed this armor, I merely translated it into Skyrim. This particular model for the armor itself (Not the body) is my own work, however the concept and artwork for it is not.

Legal - All rights for The Legacy Of Kain IP and other derivatives belongs to Crystal Dynamics and subsequent partners.

For the rest of you, have fun with it. It's not perfect, but it functions... I think? At least for regular gameplay. (It does, at least for the Ultimate Edition; other versions may vary)

As for getting the thing, you can either A) Craft it the same as you would Dragonscale,  in normal game, or B) Take the simple option and use AddItemMenu. Personally I'd recommend option B. This thing is only one single piece, so no boots or gauntlets to mix and match(As of Ultimate Edition V2, you can wear gauntlets), but you can wear a helmet if you desire.

Also, a special thanks to Kreiste. It's thanks to this champ's guide on male armor crafting that I was even able to bumble this far.

Notes:

. File is fixed now. Turns out my desktop ini got left in the original upload. Has been removed and now mod is available for download.

. MK 2 is now out, with a cleaned up model more accurate to the artwork. And yes, converting it from blender still results in parts of the mesh being eaten - this time it's the soles of the boots - but at least it's a general improvement. As far as I can tell I may have some ideas on why this happens. If I somehow find a way to fix this I'll upload a updated version. And before anyone asks, the preset in the screenshots for MK2 come from Ironfistking1313's Kain preset - an excellent choice to pair with this mod that I highly recommend.

. MK 2 Weighted version now out. This simple version allows the armor to scale with player weight (You can be buff now).

. MK 2 Rough Retex is now available. A simple change that darkens the colors a bit and roughs it up. Still looks cartoony, but at least it adds a little bit of depth (If you don't look hard enough that is).

. MK 2 Larger pauldron addon is available, as well as a darker retex. Only exists because I figured out how to resize the pauldron without breaking the model (It's now the correct size). Darker retex is just a deeper set of colours, with a tiny bit of fake depth if you look close enough. Still haven't fixed the boots sad to say.

. The Ultimate Edition is now released in V1. This is the complete package, mixing up what I consider the best of what I have to offer as of yet. With the mythical boots fix (I literally just needed to update Outfit Studio - ten hours, wasted on a five minute fix), scalable weight, and updated normals which offer a feeling of depth to the textures. The best version yet, in my humble opinion anyway. Yes, the hands are still scuffed(at least for me), but I'll figure that out later.

. The Ultimate Edition V2 released. Fixes the issue with the hand textures, as well as the small issue with the boots. Again it is compatible with all the MK 2 Retex versions. However, as some may learn, this version allows the pairing of gauntlets. I have no idea if this will mess with the fully armored perk, or related perks from other mods. Depending on if the gauntlets extend into the forearms, the gold bracer on the left will vanish to make room. If you use gauntlets which only cover the hands like gloves, the bracer will remain (As far as I can tell anyway). The black bracer does not disappear either way, so beware of clipping dependent on the gauntlets you may try.

. Ultimate Edition V3 released. Contains all the fixes so far, however is lightly incompatible with AlucardWK's version of the Blood Omen 2 Kain Set, you'll want the V1 if you plan to use that one. If you have V2, the you most likely only need the Rough Leather update to touch up the dark portions of the set. NOTE: any version beyond V1 should work now, as far as I've seen anyways.

. Game Accurate Retex Revamped is out. While porting that little bonus set (Kain, literally ripped from BO2 the game) I got good and personal with the textures. This is a retex that tries to mirror those colors, without just using those - trust me, just slapping the textures over almost always looks awful, for anything really. A few color tweaks here and there, and you have this. Also, yes, the leather has texture now - this is an experiment to see how it looks. This will probably be the last retex, as I feel I've bloated the files section more than enough.
