About this mod

A subtle way of making each hold guard's uniforms a bit more diverse.

Skyrim is a dangerous place, there's a civil war going on, there are more bandits than there are citizens, and a dragon could swoop down at any time! How can a lowly guard protect himself wearing just a pair of cheap fur boots & gauntlets?

Skyrim is a dangerous place, there's a civil war going on, there are more bandits than citizens, and a dragon could swoop down at any time! How can a lowly guard protect himself wearing just a pair of fur boots & gauntlets? Why not trade them for better ones? Well? Enter Better Guard Gears! A mod that'll help your city guards have a better chance against the dragon manacle! Not to mention looking nicer in the process!

=== What this mods does ===
It changes the guard uniforms for 8 of the Skyrim holds to ones that makes sense for their particular region, ditching the Fur Gauntlets for something better!

Note: This was completely unintentional on my part, but it actually works out very well in the end. The guards won't actually wear the upgraded gear until after the player reaches the appropriate level where the items have a chance of dropping, so you won't see Whiterun Guards wearing Dragon Bone Armor when you first enter the city while you're LV2. This actually solved an issue that I worried that might make players too overpowered in the beginning.

Eastmarch Changes: Arm & Footwear changed to Stormcloak Officer's Gauntlets & Boots

Haafingar: None - No change needed, their guards starts out with Imperial Bracers & Boots. In fact this mod was created so the rest of the guards would be more in line with Solitude Guards

The Reach: Arm & Foorwear changed to Dwarven Gauntlets & Boots, weapons changed to Dwemer Gear, the Wizard's Guards in Calcelmo's Laboratory now wear full Dwarven Armor sets instead of generic Bandit Gear - This choice was obvious, they literally live in a giant Dwarven city but nobody thought to incorporate all the Dwarven gears, scraps and ingots that's probably just lying around? This mod fixes that.

The Rift: Arm & Footwear now changed to Dawnguard Gauntlets & Boots - Given the proximity of Fort Dawnguard to the Rift, I would imagine that Jarl Laila Law-Giver would be the type to ask the Dawnguard Organization for some assistance in exchange for privileges while operating within the hold. The gears from the professional vampire hunters are a definite step up from gears made from fur.

Whiterun: Arms & Footwear changed to Dragonplate Gauntlets & Boots - Seems fitting, a lot of Whiterun's history centers around the capture of the dragon held within Dragonsreach, Whiterun is also where the first dragon fell during the new Dragon crisis. Also dragonplate armor pieces look really nice with the Whiterun Guard's colors.

Falkreath & Hjaalmarch: Arm & Footwear changed to Carved Nordic Gauntlets & Boots, it's just a bad ass design, the black fur on the boots and gauntlets really compliments the guards, especially the Falkreath guards. Falkreath and Morthal are holds that feels like they're in the frontier so the Carved Nordic aesthetics is very fitting.

The Pale & Winterhold: Arm & Footwear changed to Stalhrim Gauntlets & Boots - Seems fitting for the cold weather, plus these are coastal holds that shouldn't have problems trading with areas like Solstheim

=== Compatiability ===
This mod is fully compatible with pretty much all aside from mods that performs similar things, it changes very little and adds no scripts.

You should check out my complementary mod with this, it is fully compatible: Better Civil War Guards
