About this mod
This mod is for all those who wish to experience the excellent NAT III ENB and Weather mod in Skyrim VR out of the box.

- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
Given the differences between the VR and SSE versions of enbseries there are a few changes required to make this mod more compatible with VR headsets, this mod looks to do that while keeping to the original style of NAT. This mod is a continuation of hitmante's original NAT III Tweaks mod (with his permission of course) and is an amalgamation of all the changes, tweaks, and quality of life improvements that have been found so far.
The following changes to the original NAT are included in this mod:-
ENB:
- Changes to interior lighting to fix the completely black interiors by Patrys from Reddit
- Depth of Field, AO, Prepass, Postpass disabled, adaptation time reduction and a massive number of other fixes by hitmante (enbseries)
- Skin wetness/shininess fixes by mabezard
- General increases to Ambient Lighting to allow Cloud Shadows to be enabled without over-brightening the scene
- Changes to aurora and fire intensity to prevent overwhelming bloom
- Changes to sun ray intensity to prevent sunrises and sunsets from completely blinding the entire scene
- Increased duration of dawn and dusk to provide better change between day and night
- Added Coldbomb1's ENB border fix
Weather:
- Changes to fog and snow weathers at night to prevent dark 'crush' that can occur while still keeping them as intended
- VR friendly particle effects for snow and rain from Obsidian Weathers (DrJacopo) and Real VR Weathers (Khena123)
- A water patch to rectify the dark water issue that is commonly seen with NAT III due to the lack of water ENB settings in VR
And more.
This mod is very much a work in progress so please let me know if you come across any issues or if there are any other changes you'd like to see.
Note:
A recent update to NAT means that an update will be needed to this mod too. In the meantime please use the older version from the direct archive links below.
Installation
- Install NAT3 Weather Plugin. Do not use the current version for now, please use this link for the weather plugin and this one for the ENB.
- If you wish to use the water patch then please install SkyVRaan.
- Install ENB Helper VR, Lux
- You don't need Water for ENB or ENB Light as they do not work in VR.
- Install NAT-ENB-VR Plugin from this mod with MO2 choosing the water colour option you prefer (or just the weather changes). FOMOD install.
The 'just weather' version should be used if you are using NAT weathers with other compatible, brighter, ENB's such as Cabbage ENB - Download, extract and copy the NAT3 ENB Preset into your Skyrim VR folder along with the two ENB VR DLL files if you don't already have them
- Copy the content of the desired NAT ENB VR patches zip (either Performance or Quality) from this mod into your Skyrim VR folder, overwriting NAT3's ENB files where necessary.
- Remove (backup first) the three WeatherPatcher files from SkyVRaan's mod folder as these would overwrite this mod's water fixes at runtime. Ensure you keep the AutoPatcher files in place though.
As a note, Sun Rays can be toggled on or off regardless of the version of the ENB (performance/quality) you use from this mod without having to redownload the other version. However, toggling Cloud Shadows on/off can result in undesirable brightness changes in some weathers so I would strongly recommend redownloading the appropriate quality/performance version of these files if you wish to switch it on/off. Each version has been tweaked to compensate for the brightness differences.
Load Order (for NAT ENB VR Patches)
- Place the included mod file so that the weather textures win all conflicts (after NAT)
- Place the NAT-ENB-VR plugin so that it loads after all other weather and water mods
Performance
Quest 2, i7-11700, and RTX 3070 runs this at 90FPS with Virtual Desktop Ultra (5382 x 2691) with Synchronous Spacewarp (SSW). VR Performance Kit FSR and DLAA. For lesser hardware consider reducing resolution from Virtual Desktop Ultra to High or Medium.
Future Plans?
I'm looking to create a more neutral variant of my water changes as I'm conscious some of my existing versions may be a little blue for some people (though they still work with the landscape of Skyrim). This will be closer to Skyvraan's natural variant.
A Note on Water (for interest)
NAT ENB relies on a very low base brightness which is then layered upon by other light sources, unfortunately water in VR is not able to use an independent brightness setting so will take the base brightness only making it only about 15% of the usual brightness. My changes aim to resolve this by making the water colour itself brighter along with customising each weather for each time of day to blend the new colour in. This is a customised version of what the SkyVRaan weatherpatcher does but due to brightness and a few other NAT specifics the automated patcher can cause some unusual behaviour even after playing with the ini.
I've spent a fair amount of time tuning the colours for each but haven't been able to test every weather in every location/water depth/weather for reasons of free time and sanity. If you are using this mod and come across any weirdness (too bright, too dark etc) please get in touch with the location and the weather ID you experienced the issue with and I'll try and take a look. All water variants (aside from weather-only) will keep the SkyVRaan reflections!
I have created three variants of my water mod (so far) enabling you to pick the colours you'd like via a FOMOD.
- Vibrant is the brightest option but could end up looking slightly too fantasy for some tastes in certain conditions.
- Natural is my attempt at creating a balance between keeping the water bright enough while still making it as realistic as I could. This is my personal favourite.
- Dark is for those who'd prefer not to increase the brightness by much at all but to still avoid the incredibly dark water that comes with the original NAT III in VR.
If you wish to use any of these please ensure you have the SkyVRaan installed (with Autopatcher) as this will cause Default Water to be the only water in the world (aside from volcanic/blackreach). Only Default Water has been edited for this mod.
There is also a variant of the plugin which just applies the particle changes without water amendments for those who'd rather not, or do not wish to use SkyVRaan. This variant should also be used if using NAT weathers with other compatible, brighter, ENB's such as Cabbage ENB as those do not pose the same dark water issue.
