This is a good mod which actually makes investment in lockpicking required to pick harder locks (as it should be).
But the exp system is a bit broken - I'm a level 43 thief and still only at 50 experience for lockpicking despite (obviously) using it all the time. So I suggest users adjust the exp gain in Xedit
I've been using this mod for a while, works well and does what it says. Mod endorsed, thanks pruvan.
How to revert the non-XP from broken lockpics: For those who don't like the fact that the mod removes the XP gain from breaking lockpicks, to revert it just open the mod in SSEEdit, under 'Game Setting' find fSkillUsageLockPickBroken and change the float value from 0.000000 back to default which is 0.250000 (or set it to whatever you want, for example if you want half XP from breaking lockpicks it would be 0.125000).
Thanks for this. I was going to pass without the fail XP and with your tip I can not only return the XP but customize the amount as I feel appropriate.
Interesting. Despite the name the base value of the "Sweet spots" is a lot higher than SSR, and I suspect that the difficulty increase comes from the lockpicks being more fragile. Still MUCH lower than vanilla. Between this, xEdit, and the mod "Easy Lockpicking" there should be enough raw info to quickly make a difficulty setting that suits your tastes.
You can also use xEdit to quickly change back exp gains if you like. Just remove the skillgainmult entries. It's a very simple mod. If only it was an ESL... I think that's a creation kit thing. Can you just copy the contents of the ESP into a new file that is an esp flagged as esl in xEdit?
[Edit] I did just that and I'm going to try to use Stealth Skills Rebalanced values in my game. We shall see if it works as intended.
Partial Pick is how large the area to trigger partial lock rotation is. Sweetspot is how large area to unlock is. They are modified by their mult like fLockpickSweetSpotMult.
Max Partial Pick/Min Sweetspot: Everywhere on lock acts like it's a hair away from unlocking, but never does. Min Partial Pick/Max Sweetspot: Everywhere straight up unlocks the lock.
fSkillUsageLockPickBroken is xp for breaking lock. FSkillUsageLockPick[Difficulty] is xp for unlocking.
Good balance, although I am not a fan of no skill increase for failure.
Maybe it also makes sense to tone down lock picking enchanted gear and potions a bit, since they make this quite easy. Although lockpicking potions are quite rare, so maybe just the enchantment.
it could even be a little more difficult. What do i mean? The difficulty gap between expert lock and master lock is too high IMAO. I could probably change it on my own. Great job anyway, sir ;)

I took lock picking perks but Apprentice level locks are still nigh impossible.
