About this mod

Fast, optimized and stylized with new custom shaders by Adysss. This ENB feels moody, cold and rustic. Everything tuned for vanilla weathers with the complete Lux suite to compliment this.

Feel free to join my discord: Ebony Vibes

ENB has always been a passion of mine. And creating one which suits my tastes is something I wanted to achieve. Simple and effective. Cold and rustic, with a splash of natural and soft toning using lightweight shaders.

Adyss (Who you might know from Surreal ENB, Berxerk ENB and awesome bloom addons, which Rudy for example uses) came to me for a collaboration. I wanted a rustic, cold and slightly filmic ENB while still maintaining as much performance as possible. So he cooked up some true magic and voila, Ebony ENB is born. Kudo's to him!

Skyrim, the northernmost province of Tamriel, is a cold and mountainous region also known as the Old Kingdom, Mereth, or the Fatherland, or Keizaal in the dragon tongue.

Requirements

  • ENB Helper - Hard requirement for the multiple weathers to work
  • Enhanced Volumetric Lighting and Sunshadows (EVLAS) - For corrected volumetric lighting, sun and moon shadows.
  • Moon and Stars - Sky Overhaul SKSE - Hard requirement now, mainly to fix the moon phases.
  • Mists of Tamriel - Subtle Mist in MCM
  • Supreme Weathers for Vanilla - Mists of tamriel patch available on its modpage.
  • Strongly adviced to use Vanilla weathers. Why?
    Spoiler:

I can not guarantee the outcome of how it will look on different weathers. Most weathers add new weathers which haven't been added in my weatherlist. So therefor untouched. Weather mods also change the colortone; therefor not accurately tuned. So please be aware of the risks of it looking "wrong" or "bad".
  • Lux - Install;
  • Please make sure you atleast grab the Lux Via Recources file as it is a requirement for Lux
  • Beams - Particle without effect lighting
  • Mists and Fog - Effect Lighting without Particle
  • The rest is up to you and your load order
  • Optional but highly recommended: Lux Via and Lux Orbis
  • Preferably Burned Orange, matches the light cast from it.
  • Standard or lux orbis if using lux orbis
  • All the Addons
  • Reduced embers glow, reduced flame glow
  • Any patch you need. Also grab the ENB Light patch.

Installation

  • First make sure you got all the requirements
  • Download Ebony ENB Required Files - By Rudy (Thanks to rudy for the perms and creating this!) with your favorite modmanager. Let it overwrite everything. (If there's something you want to overwrite these files with because of preferences, do so)
  • Download ENB from here and extract the d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll from the WrapperVersion folder to your game root folder  (\common\Skyrim Special Edition, where your skyrim.exe is located)
  • Simply download the ENB from my modpage; Extract all the contents from the MAIN folder to, again, your game root folder \common\Skyrim Special Edition
  • Please ensure that SAOEnable=0 in skyrimprefs.ini
  • Make sure bIBLFenable=0  is set in skyrimprefs.ini
  • That's it! You're done!

Performance

  • First grab the main file as instructed above
  • Simply grab the file from the performance folder
  • Drag and drop it into \common\skyrim special edition. Overwrite when prompt
  • Make sure SAOEnable=1 in skyrimprefs.ini. Done!

ENB Depth of Field is disabled. ENB SSAO is disabled. Complexparticle lights shadow is disabled plus the bigrange reduced from 0.5 to 0.35

Technicalities

This ENB has a relatively light-weight and simple shader setup and it's not using any reshade addon at all. All the visuals are done so through the ENB. Light-weight shaders mean that it's less impactful overall. This does not give you miracle FPS. But if you have an ENB setup that integrates more effects and more complexity, then theoratically it will cost you a bit more. But that really depends on how the ENB is optimized.

Night Eye works by default! This is automatically integrated in the shader system this ENB runs on. You can adjust it. Should work fine with predator vision

Using the ENB;

  • To use the ENB and change some settings or preferences, simply tap the END key on your keyboard to open the GUI.
Here you can adjust several settings or tick of any effects you do not like. After changing some things, you can simply save the preset in the top left corner
  • Noteworthy things to consider in the middle tap are several things, which also contains enbeffects. In here you can adjust global image settings to your liking. This is also where you can find the settings for Night-Eye. In postpass you can turn on cinamatic bars and disable vignette. All up to you
  • Parallax is disabled by default. But you can manually enable them. Simply open the enbseries.ini in your skyrim directory. Set whichever parallax setting you want to true. Do not turn on terrain parallax, instead use complexterrainparallax.

  • Moon and stars plus EVLAS are a hard requirement now.

  • Reworked VL for Clear and Cloudy weathers at night times. More intense

  • Changed the Supreme Rain weather to be a little more darker during daytime
  • Adjusted the SubSurfaceScattering to be a bit warmer on the skin
  • Added Saints and Seducers extended cut it's weathers to the weatherlist. Currently untested.
  • The "other lighting compatibility" is removed. Main support is lux. Should look okay with ELFX+Enhancer, ELE and alike. Brighter lighting mods, not sure. But will not test. This is all due to the time and effort I'm putting in and allows me to focus on one combination of things.

Version 2.1:

Small upload of a few minor changes and balancing;

  • Overall more color balancing

  • Weather changes for the supreme weather support, minor rain intensity changes

  • Blackreach now is adapted on exterior as well as interior settings (For example, I use paper world map and for some reason it changes blackreach to a worldspace record. This might help with any other mod doing that)

  • Adaption levels increased. It should adapt now when there's a bright light-source in your eyes. Less visible in interiors, more in exteriors. It shouldn't be too intrusive.

Version 2.1:

Small re-upload on the Lux version without version change. Forgot to disable complexterrainparallax. You can re-enable it yourself manually if you want. But I bet there are a lot of people not using that feature because it can be quite performance taxing in some cases.

  • More overall colorcorrection, reduced the greenish tint a little bit on shadows

  • Sunset and sunrise changes for clear, cloudy, clear aurora and cloudy aurora. More in line with its intended design. Colder look for consistancy

  • Made the rain storms brighter

  • Heavy fog at night is brighter

  • Added helgen weather

  • Fixed some weatherlist errors. Moved the inns ini away from the dungeon sepperator

  • Added Supreme Weathers support, read the main page for installation instructions
