Intro

A while ago I've stumbled across the post  "Any Material Enchantability Mods?" from u/R-Wiley on Reddit. The idea clicked and I decided to implement such a mod. So I've hit the lore to find more about materials origin and their properties. As a result Mystical Materials mod was created.

Overview

"Calling Stahlrim an ore is like calling my forge a campfire. Some say it's "enchanted ice," but I think there's more to it than that." ― Glover Mallory

The concept of "enchanted material" is already present In Vanilla Skyrim ― Stalhrim has this unique property that makes Frost-related enchantments 25% stronger. So Mystical Materials expands this idea and adds some hidden magical properties to most of crafting materials, so that they synergize with different Enchantments to produce a more potent variant.

Here is a short summary of the mod:

The following 9 materials are now considered to be Mystical Materials:

  • Dwarven Metal (+15%)
  • Ebony (+20%)
  • Dragon Bones (+25%)
  • Moonstone (+15%)
  • Malachite (+25%)
  • Orichalcum (+15%)
  • Stalhrim (+25%)
  • Daedric (+25%)
  • Silver (+25%)

They are grouped based on their "primary" element:

  • Fire - (Fire, Health, Frenzy)
  • Shock - (Shock, Magicka, Silence)
  • Frost - (Frost, Stamina, Paralyze)
  • Dark - (Absorb, Poison, Fear, Soul Trap, Conjuration, Destruction)
  • Light - (Sun, Turn Undead, Banish, Restoration, Speechcraft)

Each group has one material that is of Mythical tier: Dragon BonesMalachiteStalhrimDaedricSilver. These materials have more potency and as such better synergize with Enchantments.

In order to benefit from Mystical Materials player must obtain a Mystical Materials perk. Mod provides two ways to get it:

  • Instantly grant the perk when the mod is loaded
  • Add the perk to Enchanting Skill tree, for player to unlock.
