This was made with Creation Kit 1.5.73.0 and tested in Skyrim 1.6.640.0 (Skyrim.esm had 17th of november 2022 as last modified date.)
Note! If you have updated your Skyrim to version 1.6.1130.0 or later since 5-6th of december 2023, and if you are having issues, open the .esp file in the also-updated Creation Kit, then save it.
Info: Partially hidden 'door' to skip the pilgrimage. Not cool, but it's functional and simple. Located on the mountain side behind some pine shrub, within navmesh's reach (considering your followers), next to White River Watch. Before you head up the path towards the bandits turn left. It's just stone throw away to the north from the cave entrance.
Using the rope ladder you will rise up near the area where you would normally discover High Hrothgar's location. There's also rope ladder up there to take you back down. "Watch your step!"
Motivation: After 10+ years I say I've walked enough polygon stairs in this game. Regardless which version it is. Lets face it, it gets highly boring after couple dozen or more times. So, I believe we've all walked way more than 7000 of those steps up that mountain.
Maybe I failed my search over the web for one, but I needed this.
Personally I refuse to walk up there anymore. "Klimmek, ol' buddy! Lets go have a pint at the Vilemyr Inn. Only climbing we'll be doing is back up on the bar stool."
