The "High Poly Steel Crossbow" is nothing more nor less of its namesake. I took the vanilla steel crossbow in Skyrim and re-added a ton of detail to the mesh which was lost in the optimization of the model to be console-friendly way back when the Dawnguard DLC was released first for the Xbox 360. The mesh-work done to this model includes:
- Polygon density around smooth areas increased, compared to the rough hard single-edged spaces of the vanilla mesh.
- Hard edges which needed to be beveled have been.
- Re-added the bolt groove to the top of the crossbow.
- Reshaped the leather wrappings around the front of the crossbow to better show the layered wrapping the model is intended to have.
- Re-added the secondary knot around the string's tie at the ends of the crossbow's limbs which was peculiarly missing from a traditional "medieval" crossbow design, which left an ugly stretched texture in its place on the vanilla mesh.
- Increased polygon density of rounded objects such as the roller nut, trigger, stirrup (the hunk of metal hanging off the front), and smaller bits.
- Extrusions to the crossbow limbs and the cocking mechanism of the steel to re-add the I-beam-like look.
I hope all twelve of the steel crossbow enjoyers appreciate it.
