smokeing toches and candles has a fomod to choose torches only or both toches and candles. Even though I chose only torches the meshes folder had candles included and I deleted them.
Just found out and thought I'd post this for anyone wanting to use this mod with Ruins Clutter Improved this fix https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21031 restores the texture paths to their default, which allows you to use this mods replacer and any normal retextures without issue.
you would/wouldn't need the patch. Would be for those that want to use the textures from ruins clutter on the new mesh. Wouldn't means a user can either delete or hide the files from ruins clutter, which wouldn't need the patch when the enchanting bench references have been removed and use a different texture from elsewhere.
Great mod, endorsed. I would like to ask something though. I am sure that this is not this mods fault or anything, I am not even sure whether this is an issue or not. The arcane workstation (the one in the 3rd and 4th pictures you provided) has candles that, at least in my game, keep going on and off. I launched just the vanilla game and no ENB and yet, those candles keep going on and off. I also see that in some of your pics, the candle is not lit, so maybe it is supposed to be that way? I mean if it is supposed to be like that fine. But I have been trying to fix this for a few hours :D and feel like an idiot. So yeah thanks in advance for any response.
Thanks! Yeah that's a vanilla thing, or at least not affected by this mod. It's controlled by however the flames are added to the addon nodes in the mesh and animated; I just changed the candle wax shapes, not touching anything else in the original meshes. Note that when you press play on the animation in Nifskope, the candle flames don't even appear: that's because only their position is controlled by the mesh, the flame/flickering are controlled elsewhere by the game. I did notice when I took screenshots that it can be tricky to get a shot where they're all lit at the same time, they flicker on/off but you don't really notice it in-game.
You are very kind to reply. Thank you good sir :) I have been installing mods left and right and it is this nice and helpful community that makes it joy rather than a chore. (Also your bettershaped weapons are an absolute staple and I will be sure to mention it wherever I can :D)
Actually, after you mentioned this I checked again and the candles in my SE game don't flicker on/off at all, I took a few screenshots and every candle was lit (see the last new image, the others are from my oldrim game). I wonder what it depends on, some ini or ENB setting, framerate, who knows?
It is not a mod, that's for sure. I launched a completely unmodded game without an ENB. It might be something in the .ini settings like you mentioned. Maybe a framerate issue, but I think that is unlikely. Still, I kinda got used to it. Now I pretend that it happens cause it is a magic enchanter. If you ever figure out what causes it, it would be appreciated though. Have a nice day :)
I'm having an issue when the new mesh is applied. I assume that it has something to do with a difference in the expected skin (?). When your new mesh is not installed I do not have the melted candle wax that your images show. The result with the new mesh is a 'wall' of wax on the back of the enchanting station. I am using SMIM 2.04 and Ruin Clutter Improved 2.09. With those two installed I have the 'chunky' candles, but no dripping wax. I'll check other locations, but this is specifically the station in Proudspire Manner.
Not sure how there can be a mod conflict that causes that; when two mods replace the same mesh, only one wins, unless a plugin edits the mesh somehow. By the image it looks like something's wrong with the alpha layer of the candle wax, causing the whole mesh to show instead of the drips.
I guess RCI isn't compatible anymore, he must've changed the vanilla textures. Ask him to rename his new textures so they won't break mods that use the vanilla textures.
Thanks for letting me know, I was wondering if SMIM had the same issue since he incorporated the RCI meshes. I can't check anything like this where I am unfortunately.
Sooo did anyone found a solution?? I've deleted ALL the meshes from this mod and i still dont know what's causing this "Wall" of wax problem ... i dont understand :c
Any chance you will put together a Ruins Clutter patch? I sent a message to the Ruins Clutter author. I loved this mod in oldrim, I would love to use it with ruins clutter.
According to sources, he messed up the vanilla candle texture, rotated it for some reason, whether on purpose or not, I have no idea. If he did it unintentionally, he should fix it; if he wanted it rotated, he could just as easily have made a new texture, otherwise the vanilla texture is broken for anything else that may use it. He was told about it but never replied.
I haven't been able to look into it personally, otherwise I'd tell you the simplest fix or just fix the texture myself and release it as an optional download.
The problem of Ruin Clutter Improved can be solved by overwriting candle01 textures of that mod by the one of vanilla. Just extract the following textures
I hid those same textures from SMIM because they were making the enchanting table candles look weird. The fix worked, in that I now see the default, angular candles. Sadly, I'm not seeing the smooth candles from this mod. Mod Organizer isn't showing any conflicts, but I guess something might be lurking in a BSA.
Never paid attention to the candles until now, took before and after screenshots and wow. Even comes with wicks. Nice. Also, what retextures are you using for the benches in the screenshots?
edit: nevermind, found the answer to the last part. Skyrim Redesigned if anyone's curious.
I'm not sure but this should make this mod work with RCI. - Get candles01.dds from base game. - Create separate texture folder for it.(example: /textures/separate textures/dungeons/candles01.dds) - Change texture path of LeanWolf's candles meshes with NifSkope.
I know the good practice solution is telling RCI's author to make separate texture folder for RCI's candles.

there is NO .esp and NO TEXTURES
so you can use this with ANY retexture mod!
Enjoy!
Oldrim version here.

Good cathch though for posting that patch info.

Quick screenshot from NifSkope.
Screenshot is taken from "whiterunsdragonreach".
@LeanWold
I will edit this comment again. I'm going to disable mod one by one to find out which mod cause it.
Quick report:
- Unmodded = Works fine.(Green ball looks weird but it is minor issue for now.)
- Modded = Candle wall.
Ask him to rename his new textures so they won't break mods that use the vanilla textures.

textures\dungeons\candles01.dds
textures\dungeons\candles01_g.dds
textures\dungeons\candles01_n.dds
from "Skyrim - Textures4.bsa" and copy them to your Skyrim data folder.
RCI work on candles is mostly broken (meshes and textures together).
